Jr. STF God’s Heart Award Foundation Level (Age 12-14)

Family Activities

(Do all of the following):

1 Read the Hoon Dok Hae daily. Share with your family together.

2 .Learn the Family Pledge in Korean and English and lead the Pledge in public.3. Learn how to pray from your family and participate in family prayer daily.

4 Keep a written record of the history of your family working within the Providence. Record your Parent’s testimony of True Parents and their church faith.

5 Read about the history of Korea, Japan and the United States.

6. Learn the Korean Language.

7. Serve your family preparing ten meals for your family. Wash and iron your clothes for one month.

8 Perform at least ten service projects to the community with your family each year.

Group Activities

(Do all of the following)

1 Read Hoon Dok Hae in Public.

2. Testify as to your experiences as a 2nd Generation to others. Learn to appreciate and respect other 2nd Generation youth.

3 Fund Raise with other 2nd Generation under the guidance of a Blessed Adult. 

4 . Learn Holy Songs and Have Group Songfests.

5. Participate in a Service for Peace Project. 

6 Mentor younger people than you in a school or home setting. Testify to this experience.

Spiritual Development
"The Heart of God"

1 Read the Principle of Creation from the Divine Principle. Explain in your journal God’s purpose for creating Man.

2. Read the Fall of Man from the Divine Principle. Explain in your journal how God felt when the first humans fell.

3. Explain in your journal how and why God worked hard to restore man after the fall.4. Explain how you can ease God’s Suffering.

"The Value of True Parents"

1. In your notebook, explain what "True Parents" means to Unification Church members?

2. In your notebook explain how Reverend and Mrs. Moon became True Parents?

3. In your notebook explain how can you become a True Parent?

4. Write, tape record, or video tape your own news program about what the True Parents have done, what organizations they have founded.

5. Tell at least 3 people who are not members of the Family Federation about the value of True Parents and the Unification Church. Record your experiences in your notebook.

2nd Generation Education

1 Read "Original Man and the True Way of Life"(Vol.8 HDH Series) with parent. Ask God in prayer to help you understand.

2. Read "Children’s Portion of Responsibility" (Vol. 8 HDH) with parent. Ask God in prayer to help you understand.

3 Read "The Way of Children of the Blessed Families" (Vol. 8 HDH) with parent. Ask God in prayer to help you to understand .

4. Read "The Meaning of Religion and it’s Mission" (Vol. 4 HDH) with parent Ask God in prayer to help you understand.

5. Read " The Life Course of Man", ( Vol.7 HDH) with parent. Ask God in prayer to help you understand.

6. Recite from memory the Pledge, in English and Korean, to a parent or Church Leader.

7. Fast for one day. Pray to share experience with God.

8. Study about your Conscience and how God can guide you thru it. Find out how to strengthen your conscience and relation to God.

9. Begin a Report to God on your Daily activities. Pray that God would let you know how much He loves you.

Physical Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Run 2 kilometers or 1.25 miles and set a goal for improvement.

2 Develop and begin a one-year plan to improve your personal physical fitness.

3 Swim 50 meters, using two different strokes.

4 Learn to float on your back in the water for two minutes.

5 Learn how to rescue someone who is drowning.

6 Hike ten kilometers or six miles in one day.

7 Overnight camping trip: Set up a tent, cook, build a latrine, restore the camp to natural condition.

8 While camping, build a cooking fire, or set up a stove. Teach someone how to build a fire safely and put it out.

9 Learn a new game or sport.

10 Play on a sports team in your quorum, ward, school, or community.

11 Learn the rules of play and officiate in a sport of your choice.

12 Explain to parent or leader the rules of safe bicycle riding. Complete a 30-kilometer or 20-mile ride.

Educational, Personal, and Career Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Make a plan to improve reading, writing, math skills, and follow the plan for at least 3 months.

2 Choose 2 careers: What preparation is needed; interview someone in each position to learn to prepare.

3 Visit a government office. Explain to a parent or leader the function of the office.

4 Learn how to purify water and to wash and prepare fresh fruits and vegetables.

5 First aid for: electrical shock, near drowning, burns, broken bones, heat exhaustion, serious falls, and CPR.

6 Attend a cultural event such as a church, school, or community play, music program, or musical.

7 Learn to play a musical instrument.

8 Perform a musical selection in a Blessed Family meeting or another church or community meeting.

9 Develop and follow a financial budget for three months.

10 Study about the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth and Nature. Pick one aspect about God’s creation and prepare to teach another person about it.

11 Learn computer / keyboarding skills. Type family history information in Personal Ancestral File.

12 Make a pen pal in Korea or Japan within our church. Write for at least 3 months."

Citizenship and Social Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Learn the importance of True Love and the importance of living for the Sake of Others. Read from Father’s words about how God wanted to give His Children from the beginning of time. Lecture to your family 10 examples of how you could bring True Love to others. Practice this list for one month.

2. Read the local newspaper or newsmagazine to find examples where people did not live for the sake of others and the problems that were caused. Find examples of where True Love and living for the sake of others made a victory. Write a report.

3 Learn that the Family is the basis for the Universe and all Social and Citizenship skills begin there. Lecture to your family how your family is the School of Love for all things.4 Read about the life of True Parents and how They have taught the people True Love. Read a speech from Father talking about the importance of True Love. Write a report in your own words who the True Parents are and deliver it to your youth meeting.

5. Demonstrate to a parent or leader how to use proper manners while eating, greeting, and introducing an elder person, guest, or family member.

6. Study filial piety and how important it is in your relationship to your family, community, nation and to God. Write a guidebook to yourself on how to become a son or daughter of filial piety.

7 Participate in a cultural event such as a school play or musical.

8 Study and report what it means to care for God’s Creation and nature. Give a lecture on how God’s nature can be seen in the natural world. Pick a topic on 1 aspect of nature and explain how it fits together with the rest of creation to a group of other youth or families.

9 Study the Duality of Creation. Show how the creation was created to have harmony between, + and -, stamen and pistol, male and female, and men and women. Explain how Adam and Eve were to have been the original Parents of all mankind and create the first Civilization

10 Make a report on how important it is to not hurt other people’s spirit, try to take advantage of them or hurt their feelings. Make a report on examples of how this causes resentment and destruction.

11 Study how to lead with True Love. Study how to make a culture of True Love and living for the sake of others. Study how to make use of Love in building the laws of society. Study how God desires to share his true love with all the Creation. Make a lecture with your report and present it at a meeting with other young people.

12 Explain the Heart of God and how all mankind shares God’s heart. Give examples of heartistic behavior that is good. Give a lecture on this topic to your family

13. Give 10 good examples of good citizenship and 10 bad examples of citizenship. Use the newspaper or news magazine as examples along with your own personal experience. Deliver a lecture about this and the importance of living for others

Service Project:

Do at least 100 hours of work in service to others during the year, at the school, church, community ,State or National level.

1. Complete a family historical record for each of your grandparents from when they were children.

2. Read The Divine Principle with your parents and learn where the Principle came from.

3. Give a Divine Principle lecture to your Parents.

4. Read about the history of Korea, Japan and the United States.

5. Learn the Korean Language

6. Discuss with your parents the meaning of "Blessed Child. Explain how you should relate to youth who are not family Federation Members

7. Explain about the Blessing and how Unification Members prepare for marriage.

8. Explain the Unification view of the importance of sexual purity and God’s original intention for sex.

9. Interview at least two Blessed Couples and ask them about what Blessed Marriage means to them.

10. Pay your share of the Family Tithe.

Group Activities

Spiritual Development
The Heart of God

1. Explain how, why and when to pray in your personal journal.

2. What does it mean to pray in your family name? How is it different than praying in the name of Jesus?

3. Hold a prayer vigil, beginning at Midnight and ending at 4:00 AM with others in your spiritual community.

4. Explain what the Bible is, how I was written and who wrote it to a group.

5. Study Jesus’ life as explained by True Parents

6. Visit a religious institution that believes in the Bible, such as a church or synagogue. Ask a leader of that institution to explain his religion.

7. In your notebook, explain what you learned from your visit. List some of the differences and similarities between the Unification Church and the institution that you visited.

8 Choose a holy book, other than the Bible, that is the primary scripture of a religion, such as the Koran. In your notebook explain about that scripture, how it was written, who wrote it, etc.

9. Visit a religious institution that believes in the scripture that you selected, such as a mosque. Ask a leader of that institution to explain his religion.

10. In your notebook, explain what you learned from your visit. List some of the differences and similarities between the Unification Church and the institution that you visited.

The Value of True Family

1. Explain from the Divine Principle the meaning of the "Blood Lineage".

2. Explain from the Divine Principle the joy in God’s Heart at the creation of Adam and Eve.

3. Explain how Adam and Eve were made.

4. Explain how the family is the "School of Love".

5. From Divine Principle, explain who Lucifer is and his position in God’s preparation of Creation.

6. Explain the Fall of Man. What happened? What are the 4 main portions of evil? Explain in detail how this still plagues Mankind.

7. Explain completely God’s and Mankind’s loss when the fall took place.

8. Explain God’s determination to restore the fall of man.

9. Explain the need for the Messiah and the True Family. Explain how long God has suffered waiting for the establishment of the True Family.

10. Explain how your family has the responsibility of becoming a True Family as well.

11. Explain the importance of succession within the True Family.

2nd Generation Education

1 Develop a pattern for your life of good habits that will serve you all of of your life. Realize that True Father, thru his incredible sacrifice, was able to bring the Divine Principle from God to man successfully, and that this wisdom enables man to become God’s Children. Consider how modern texts such as Steven Covey in (The 7 habits of Highly Effective Families) are actually restating the Divine Principle in a different way. Study the following points and realize how the Divine Principle clearly explains the same important points to live by.

Be proactive-From Divine Principle, realize that God gave you " free will". Learn how to use your free will for God’s, your family’s and your own development. Learn the value of time and resources. Explain how to become proactive" as a "Co-Creator" with God. B Begin with the End in Mind-Realize what is the "Perfection Level" that God desires for His Children and Creation in all situations. From the Principle of Creation explain the 3 stages of completion. Dream big for what can be. Plan carefully to achieve that dream.

Put first things first.- From the perfection level vision, work back down to determine the foundation stage and growth stage to win the perfection level. From the Divine Principle, explain the importance of Foundation of Faith and Foundation of Substance. From the Principle explain the 4 Position Foundation...

Think "Win-Win- From the Divine Principle explain the restoration of the Cain/Abel struggle and the restoration of the Fall ofMan.

Seek First to Understand and Then be Understood- From the Divine Principle, explain "Mind / Body Unity" and how the "Subject/Object Relationship" works. Learn the importance of being humble before God and the presence of the Spirit World.

Synergize- From the Divine Principle explain "Universal Prime Energy "and the "Principle of Give and Take Action". Explain how all things made by God are made in harmony with each other.

Sharpen the Saw-Explain the importance of Tradition as a way of keeping the teachings of the Principle alive and active in yourself, your Family, your Clan, Your Nation, and the Cosmos.. Explain that our way of life must enable the power of the Divine Principle to work, clearing every situation so that God can participate with us

Physical Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Run 5 kilometers or 3 miles in 30 minutes or less.

2 Swim 75 meters, using two different strokes.

3 Demonstrate lifesaving skills in the water.

4 Hike 15 kilometers or 9 miles with a 12-pound pack in one day.

5 Participate in group cultural performance, play, folk dance, school or community.

6 Teach a younger brother or sister how to play an indoor game or sport.

7 Play on a sports team in your, school, or community.

8 Learn to play or officiate in a sport of your choice.

9 Camp for three days under the supervision of leaders.

10 Explain to parents or leaders how to survive for 48 hours in the wilderness. Identify edible plant and animals. Explain how you would ensure the safety of drinking water.

11 Demonstrate the most important distress signals to use during a crisis or when you are lost.

12 Learn first aid skills and teach them to your family or members.

Educational, Personal, and Career Development

(Do 8 of the following)

1 Concentrate on your education, and develop additional skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.

2 Improve reading skills by reading Hon Dok Hae before your family for 3 months.

3 Choose 3 careers: Discuss questions about each with parents / leaders. Positive aspects of each career

4 Visit 3 work locations. Talk to workers. Discuss with parents / leaders how you would feel working there.

5 Take a vocational interest test. Discuss with a parent / leader how to take classes toward that vocation.

6 Discuss how your chosen career would allow you to maintain the moral standards of the Family Federation and working for the sake of others..

7 Explain entrance requirements for a technical school, college, or university. Describe 5 classes of interest.

8 Learn to play a musical instrument.

9 Attend a career night where a guest speaker describes what employers look for in new employees.

10 Collect three different job applications and fill them out as practice.

11 Practice your knowledge of Korean in Public.

12 Use a computer to prepare a Church talk, a school assignment, or another similar task.

Citizenship and Social Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Practice proper personal hygiene and grooming. Explain to parents / leaders why this is important.

2 Plan and participate in an activity that brings the 1st and 2nd Generation together..

3 Volunteer for 4 or more afternoons or evenings at a hospital, rest home, or homeless shelter under the supervision of a church mentor or your parent.

4 Invite your grandparents or other senior citizens to share childhood memories. Take notes.

5 Attend a city council meeting. Share impressions of the experience with parents / leaders.

6 Visit a legal court. Share your impressions of the experience with parents / leaders.

7 Sing the National Anthem alone or in a group. Explain its origin to parents / leaders.

8 Discuss with a parent / leader ways to prevent crime in your area.

9 List music, movies, TV programs, and printed materials that are in harmony with heavenly standards.

10 Plan and participate in an "appreciation dinner" involving parents.

11 Give at least one talk or speech at school or church in the community.

The Heart of God

1. Read the Philosophy of Education of Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Discuss the following:

A. God’s desire for Adam and Eve at the time of the Fall. Explain what was lost and the determination of God to reconstruct again.

B. God’s direction and intent toward making an educational process for His children including a guidebook to being a True Child, True Brother or Sister, True Couple, True Parents, (4 Levels).

C. God’s instructions to teachers

D. God’s instruction on the importance of Conscience and how it can guide you.

E. God’s instruction to Students.

F. Practical instructions from True Parents.

G. Excepts from Hon Dok Hae on Youth, students and becoming a True Child.

2. Testify to your experiences with Heavenly Father with your family and fellow 2nd Generation youth. Share the challenges to find God and how you persevered to break through..

3. Testify to your experience with uniting 1st and 2nd generations together to bring joy to God and True Parents.

Individual Perfection

1. Describe God’s original intention for Adam and Eve to become "Perfect" by the time they were mature ,(about the age of 18.). How does this relate to God’s commandment in the Bible to Become Perfect"?

2. Explain what it means to be mature in spirit and in body, as a Son or Daughter of God? 3. Explain" Mind/Body Unity" and the relation of the mind dominating the body. How does God interact with us?

4. Explain how God is able to be close to us depending on our actions and state of mind.

5. Testify to an experience that you felt God by you and what you learned from it.

6. Explain from the Divine Principle, the "realms of indirect and direct dominion"

7. Fast for one day, spiritually prepare and ask God how He feels. . Dedicate it for a purpose. Write about your experience in your journal.

Preparation for the Blessing

1. From the Divine Principle, Principle of Creation describe the ideal of God for Adam and Eve.

2. Explain the results of the Fall of Man according to the Divine Principle.

3. Describe the consequences of the Fall since the time of Adam and Eve.

4. Read True Father’s instructions to the 36 Blessed couples in 1962.

5. Read the Declaration of the Blessing (Vows) of the Blessing and Holy Marriage.

6. Explain in your journal your own understanding of these vows. Read Testimonies of recent 2nd generation couples that have been Blessed.

In your own words, describe how does the blessed couple embody the original ideal of subject and object and the masculine and feminine aspects of God.

Explain the Matching Process to select a mate.

How does God participate in this event? Ask your parents how they felt God guiding them.

Explain the importance of International Blessings.

The Value of Chun Il Guk

Make a chronology of True Father’s Life.

Describe in detail True Father’s spiritual encounter with Jesus.

Explain why Korea is the Chosen Nation?

Make a chronology of Korean History, marking the times of invasion and history of the Korean people in preserving their lineage. Provide details of the recent history of the division of Korea after World War II, and it’s fight to re-unify.

Explain the importance of the 3 Major providential Nations of Korean, Japan and America. How are they to work together?

Explain what is Chun Il Guk. From True Parent’s Teachings, what is the importance of Chun Il Guk.

Where is Chun Il Guk?

7. Explain the Coronation of God Ceremony

8. Explain the meaning of the Last Days. Give examples that can lead you to the conclusion that the present time are the Last Days.

9 Describe the future that Blessed Families should build.

10. Describe God’s desire that Blessed Couples live together with 3 international families together.

Physical Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Run 10 kilometers or 6 miles in 60 minutes or less.

2 Hike 25 kilometers or 15 miles with a pack in two days or less.

3 Run for 30 minutes 3 times a week for 3 months.

4 Swim for 30 minutes twice a week for 3 months.

5 Present a display or demonstrate a hobby or craft at school, church activity, or at a community event.

6 Perform publicly in a musical group that presents music in harmony with Church standards.

7 Play on a sports team in your community.

8 Learn to play or officiate in a sport.

9 Teach the rules of a sport to another family member.

10 Present a plan to parents / leaders to organize a camping trip including those with disabilities.

11 Organize and carry out a camping trip for your group. Get permission, permits, and clean up area.

Educational, Personal, and Career Development

(Do 8 of the following):

1 Participate in on-the-job training, apprenticeship, internship, vocational school, college, or university.

2 Visit 3 work locations. Write what you liked and did not like and how it fits in your long-term goals.

3 With parent’s permission, obtain part-time employment.

4 Learn how to find a job. Prepare a resume. Hold a mock interview with parents or mentors.

5 With parent’s permission, obtain a valid driver’s license.

6 Prepare a personal history. Keep a journal or personal record.

7 In a language other than your own, describe what it is like to be a youth living for the sake of others.

8 Plan and participate in a variety show at church or in the community that includes local talent.

9 Create at least 3 paintings or drawings. If possible, display at a church, school or community event.

10 Participate in a church, school, or community choir.

11 Learn to play a musical instrument.

1 Discuss appropriate conduct and qualities that you would want to have as a spouse.

3 Explain how the Blessing is Eternal and how you would want to be for all time.(character)

5 Explain the value of your physical body and how your body is a vehicle to carry your spirit, until death releases your spirit.

6 Explain citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven.

7 Explain that the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth must be prepared to teach people how to be ready for their eternal life in Heaven.

8 Explain how the Blessing actually engrafts you into God’s family. What does that mean to you? Ask God what it means to Him through Prayer.

9 Explain that your spouse is your eternal partner and you cannot reach perfection without him/her as you will live together in the Kingdom of Heaven forever.

10 Explain how the International Blessing will bring Peace and Harmony to Earth by matching former enemies together.

11 Explain that by living for the sake of others you will bring God joy and then become His real son/ daughter.

12 Explain that the Last Days is really the New Beginning of History.
