World CARP was holding their second quarterly meeting in this year and that time the Second Generation Department Directors were invited as well. Over the past few years we’ve been invited to CARP Leaders Meetings, like those in Alaska. Of course, the main focus at those meetings was CARP issues and there was not so much time to discuss topics concerning Second Generation. However, this time, it was meant to be a little bit different.

Earlier this year Hyun Jin Nim appointed Jin Soo Kim to be International Second Generation Education Coordinator to support and coordinate the work of all Second Generation Departments. Right now there are 4 Second Generation Departments, Korea, Japan, America, and Europe and all 4 Directors came to this meeting.

The meeting started right after we arrived in New York in the World CARP HQ on the 29th with some guidance from Young Joon Kim on the purpose and the goals for the Leaders Meeting. Also, the next morning, as follow up, Jin Man Kwak explained more about Hyun Jin Nim’s vision and expectations of the Second Generation Directors.

Hyun Jin Nim is saying that the main focus of Second Generation education should be to prepare them for a public life. That’s why STF is so important. It’s a good training to prepare them for a public life. We have to transform ourselves so that really the Culture drives the Structure. Especially the Second Generation Directors have to find a strong determination for their work.

On the same day we were privileged to go to Washington DC to participate the following day’s festivities of the Day of all True Things with True Parents. We had Pledge service and after on True Father gave some guidance. It was good to see True Parents again and True Father full of energy. The trip to Washington DC and back took few hours. Jin Soo Kim rented a van for us and we could travel together, that gave us a lot of time to share and bond.

The World CARP Leaders Meeting started on the 1st June in UTS with 40 people: CARP Presidents, Vice Presidents, Consultants, HQ staff and Second Gen. Leaders.

Jin Soo Kim prepared for this meeting in a way that we can have a Second Generation Education Conference during the CARP Leaders meeting. We started in morning together with the other participants from CARP and we attend some of the lectures that considered also our work, but beside that we could meet among Second Generation Leaders only. That was really helpful. In this way we could focus on Second Generation issues.

Some of our main focuses of our discussions were

• how to imply Hyun Jin Nim’s teaching of the Culture of Heart and the Core Values

• the education course from birth until the Blessing and beyond

• the international process and guidance of matching and blessing

• our international cooperation

Also each on of us could shared about their work and different experiences, so that they others could learn from and understand each others situation better.

The highlight of the meeting was the last 2 days when Hyun Jin Nim came. His message this time was the same as his biggest emphasis these days: creating a True Culture of Heart through embodying the Core Values.

The first step is to realise that you need to change, everyone has to go through a transformation. Even the culture of our movement has to change / improve. Often we are so used to our habits and behaviours that we don’t see the bigger picture anymore and because we live a wrong culture and that we actually still have to grow and change.

Hyun Jin Nim is explaining the Culture of Heart with 4 simple core values: Living for the Greater Good, Ownership, Teamwork and Dream Big. All 4 core values are based on the Vertical Tradition. It’s important when you embody these core values that they are aligned with the words and teaching of God, True Parents and True Family.

HJN’s original idea was to spread the Culture of Heart and these Core Values through Service for Peace. That’s still his goal, but also our movement, CARP and Second Generation should embody the Culture of Heart.

For me I can say it was a very inspiring and exciting meeting. Being able to gather with other Second Generation leaders and to share and discuss common concerns about our work was most pressures to me. All of them gave a lot of effort to let me feel being part of the team. I also felt privileged being the youngest. All of them to treat me like a younger brother that everyone wants to protect and take care of. And it wasn’t like that we could have only our meeting, but we could receive Hyun Jin Nim’s guidance as well.

Thank you to CARP, Jin Soo Hyung and everyone who made this meeting possible.
