RE: GLOBAL PEACE FESTIVAL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Global Peace Festival (GPF) Internship Opportunities with the Global Family Expo Service Projects and Community Partnerships

JOB DESCRIPTION (One or more of the following):

Engage DC-area high schools, colleges and universities (clubs and organizations) to participate in "a million acts of kindness/service."

Network with DC-area religious organizations to organize inter-religious and interracial service projects leading up to the GPF on August 9th, 2008.

Recruit DC-area service and volunteer organizations to prepare ready-made opportunities for GPF participants to engage in "a million acts of service/kindness."

Develop, organize and promote art, poetry, essay, poster and video contests for youth around the GPF themes.

Identify and recruit exemplary and exciting community-based youth and service organizations to perform or present during the "Global Family Expo," as part of the GPF on August 9th.

Develop service and inter-religious projects that will continue after the GPF with DC-area community partners.

Support GPF HQ and administration

REQUIREMENTS:

Age 18 and above [see projects for 16 and older below]

Commitment to GPF Ideals: "One Family Under God," and themes: Compassion, Family, Peace

At least part-time or some-time availability during May 1st -- August 9th, 2008 to work in the DC area.

For GPF HQ administration office positions, typing and office skills required

COMPENSATION:

Room and board (for those from out-of-DC metro area), expenses and a modest stipend based upon work hours

Professional experience in service and community outreach, interfaith work, administration, public relations and communications, etc.

An exciting summer being a part of the historical and revolutionary Global Peace Festival!

16-17 Year Olds:

We will welcome and support the best ideas for simple, effective and needed service projects (actual DC-area projects that you help develop and organize) that will visibly demonstrate inter-religious and interracial cooperation, and other GPF themes.

Approved candidates will work with the GPF Service Committee, and will be supported and supervised by the FFWPU Education Department (Rev. Phillip Schanker and Dave Hunter).
