Carlton L. Johnson, English Teacher at Chungshim International Academy)

This is an interview conducted with Carlton L. Johnson, an English Teacher in Chungshim International Academy. He is 2075 Blessed Couples and blessed to a Japanese wife. Although he is tall and built, he has warmth in his smile and makes you fell welcomed.

How is the atmosphere within the students so far?

The atmosphere so far is exciting. The program here in Chungshim International Academy is more challenging than other institutions. That is the mood I feel from the students, challenge. Also this school is a boarding school. Students have told me that when they left for their home for the weekend, they didn't exactly feel like leaving the boarding house. They have received so much love and care from the teachers and students that they felt like leaving home. I was really happy to hear that from students.

We heard that all of the classes are taught in English.

It doesn't seem to be hard for the students who have been abroad to be taught in English.

I have heard that through student meetings, students will be able to take care of themselves and have leadership.

Just recently the students have elected a leader for them. Students have also selected monitors, who will help one another in accordance with rules and regulations. It is hard for them to live with other students away from their home, however, they are learning a lot of leadership from one another.

In Korea the Confucian ethics are real strong, which I can see from the responsibility and maturity that Korean students perform. Students here show high examples. It is very beautiful to me to see students show love to one another.

English Policy is one of a rule that students have agreed to participate in. It is where they set up a certain time period, where students are only allowed to speak English. It is a challenge for the students to speak English between each other. The best way to improve English is to speak it as much as possible. There are monitors who will check and give demerit points to those who talk in Korean. Through this activity students learn English but as well as being responsible and competitive with one another. Through these activities created by the students, they learn to be responsible and become better leaders.

If there is anything that you want to tell the students please share it with us?

I want my students to become grateful and express their gratitude. I want them to realize that they are being educated in a new school, that they are the first ones to walk through the hall ways and first ones to use the desks. Gratitude is a great force to motivate us to live for others and to become true leaders. I really hope that they feel gratitude all the time.

Please comment and give advice to those coming 2nd and 3rd Generations who want to achieve their dreams through this school.

This school can bring up leaders, leaders that True Parents and True Children yearned for. If you don't lose the heart to follow God, I assure you that you would become great leaders.
