Note: These are paraphrased notes and review of Divine Principle is abbreviated. If expression is unclear or objectionable, please assume it is my paraphrasing. My comments appear in brackets, thoughts that came to me as I listened or rewrote this.

Rev. Kamiyama spoke for about 2 hours translated. He was pretty straightforward and the tone was often upbeat even if the topic was sad and serious. The effect was non-judgmental. He reminded us that he spent 24 hours a day with Father in Danbury prison and Father told him many things, including what is now being discussed in Nan Sook’s book and the 60 Minutes broadcast -- Hyo Jin Nim and Un Jin Nim’s situations and the other women in Father’s life. He wants to share it with us, but he can only go into a part of it now, given the limited time. He wants to speak more in another opportunity.

His talk addresses such questions as:
Why are the True Children so vulnerable to Satanic attack?
Why are blessed children not necessarily strong in faith?
Why are True Parents being tested in such a severe way now?
Why does Father regularly ask for mothers to leave their children?
Why is the IOWC being started now?

The other day Father asked me to get a US citizenship. I guess I am fated to love and invest in the US from now on.

Nan Sook’s book and 60 Minutes shook the American members. Now it is being translated into Japanese and it is certain to affect the members in Japan. Did it affect you? Do you have any questions?

If you believe in True Parents, you should have great confidence and membership should be rising. Why then is the membership so small? Is membership rising, declining or maintaining? It is declining, isn’t it? Why do I find so few new members?

I invested 35 years in this effort for the Kingdom of Heaven. I don’t want that ideal to die now.

US is a powerful nation, created to build the Kingdom of Heaven. It is in elder son position, the one to help the parents’ position if they grow weak. If the mother position is to bring Cain and Abel together and then to the father position, then South America and the US are the Cain and Abel children to become united.

Why is True Father pushed so far in this tragic situation?

Father told me a lot in Danbury. He pointed out that all members, without exception, need to fulfill the Formula Course to inherit his merit and qualify for the Kingdom of Heaven. But no one has taken it seriously. This is why the Formula Course needs to be reestablished, including IOWC. This basic restoration work must be pursued with the seriousness that Jesus carried the cross, to make Satan retreat. We have to fulfill requirements that Satan agreed to recognize to make him retreat from us and our families and allow us to become true parents ourselves.

The 7 Year Course consist of two parts, one to restore faith and things lost in the Fall, the other to reclaim parents and children lost in the Fall. This latter effort of course is witnessing. Each of us has to find three spiritual children.

These three spiritual children are to support and follow us at the sacrifice of themselves, out of gratitude for what we have given them. They would have to be won by great love, brought to a natural surrender.

These three people would represent the three archangels in the Eden, the Old, New and Completed Testament Ages and other things. To gain such followers would repair the Fall.

Only this allows our physical children and our whole family to be protected from Satan. Such Cain-type spiritual children however would be seven times more difficult to care for than our Abel-type physical children. Once they are established, though, the Cain-type children would naturally take responsibility to protect our Abel-type children. For example, at their birth, we would call our spiritual children to be the ones praying at the time of delivery.

[I recall Father saying that these spiritual children would also contribute to the financial needs of our physical children.]

Many blessed children were born without the requirement of three spiritual children being accomplished. Members have complained to Father that their children have gone off-track; how was this possible with blessed children? Father points out he expected all blessed children to be born under the protection of spiritual children. Even animals look for a safe place to bear young, yet we have let our children be born so vulnerable to attack.

The faithlessness of Jesus’ three key spiritual children lead to his tragic death. Thus his own failure to subdue his followers with love led to his vulnerability to attack.

[The following is one frame of reference to regard the situation of the True Family and us.]

Blessed families are the direct disciples of the Second Coming of the Messiah. The disunity of the disciples of the first Messiah Jesus led to him being accused and attacked by Satan. Jesus came to great agony of heart in Gethsemane as he tried to find a way to avert death, but his closest followers could only sleep. Satan used the disciple’s state of faithlessness to accuse all Israel, and all people. God did not want humanity taken by His enemy, so He offered His son instead.

Jesus prayed to be delivered from the cross but changed his prayer to faithful acceptance. Later on the cross itself, a similar change of heart occurred -- he cried out to God "Why have You abandoned me?" then forgave all and offered himself. Thus the path for the Kingdom remained open.

The time of Jesus’ death and the days afterwards were without condition for Satan’s claim. Jesus’ disciples united with his resurrected presence and God’s providence continued.

Applying this to us, we don’t want to be faithless as Jesus’ disciples. Satan will accuse us before God and through us all people will be accused. Satan wants to destroy us and all humanity. We remember that after Jesus’ death, the three disciples met tragic deaths and Israel was plagued for the last 2000 years.

God wants to protect us. Who can take our place as Jesus did? The True Children are being attacked instead of us and Satan’s real target is Father.

[Reminder: In a similar situation, when all members involved with a project Father wanted to do in Korea were faithless and this was allowing Satan to take Father’s life, Heung Jin Nim was attacked and killed.]

[Next is another frame of reference.]

Satan gave God the same accusation that he had given Him regarding Job -- that His favored son was only faithful because he was so blessed and protected. As we recall, Job’s children died, he lost his wealth, he got very sick and his closest friends taunted him. Job never complained and in the end children, property and health were given back to him.

Now Father is in a terrible situation. Father had prayed in the past to know God’s pain, to share in His tears that he shed when He lost His children in the Fall. God has given him over to Satan as he did Job. Father is cursed in order to tempt him to complain to God.

[Sun Jin Nim has explained that Ye Jin Nim and Hyo Jin Nim were predestined to be pressured to be as faithless as Adam and Eve, just as Heung Jin Nim was endangered to die as a young sacrifice as the Second Adam did.]

The situation of Hyo Jin Nim is intolerable. Don’t you think Father cries over it? Father shares God’s pain and comforts Him in tears.

[This seems to be a comparison to both Job and to Jesus, who initially was tempted to complain but eventually accepted his fate and demonstrated faith and love.]

[The following is yet another way to understand the present situation.]

Father can accuse and resent Nan Sook, as God could have accused and resented Adam and Eve. But this would represent the end of hope; Satan would claim everything. God committed to reclaiming His children no matter what the sacrifice, so Father has done the same. In South America, for example, I saw Father’s effort to connect to Hyo Jin Nim.

Father needs the blessed families to stand with him during this critical test.

[Unlike Job’s friends and Jesus’ disciples.]

Now Un Jin Nim has given herself to a 54-year-old man, her trainer. This too is intolerable. What do you think Father is tempted to do to this man.

Why is this happening? Father was not born to be put through such trials.

[Next is a fourth frame of reference for the situation.]

In the Fall, Satan destroyed God’s Ideals, took God’s Things and worst, His children, the objects of His Love. Thus Satan became God’s enemy, the Enemy of Ideals, Things and Love. Then Satan demanded to be loved by God, because God claims to be the origin of love. God then had to forgive His worst enemy, love the Enemy of Love.

[Lucifer had to love God and Adam in spite of the fact that they were the ones who kept his beloved Eve from him. God and Adam were his Enemies of Love, but he could not love them. Mary’s husband, Joseph, also was faced with this. He had to love God as the Enemy of Love, the One who had "taken" his virginal bride from him. He could not do this as well.]

Why did Jesus teach about loving the enemy? Why does Father? If we kill our visible enemy, we do not destroy the invisible, real enemy behind him or her, Satan. Only natural subjugation by love can work. Satan demanded the original love of God due to any angel despite what he did. So God needs His representative, Abel, to give Satan’s representative, Cain, true love until Cain is satisfied. Then Satan will surrender.

Jesus made the conditions forming the basis to love the Enemy of Ideals and Things. That’s why it is hard but not impossible to forgive and love someone who destroys your ideals and things. But can you forgive and love the Enemy of Love, someone who rapes and murders your blessed child? Yet this is the test we must pass to be freed from Satan’s attack. Resentment in fact will do the opposite -- allow Satan to claim us more deeply.

Now is the time small efforts gain all the merit of saints in the past.

What happens if Father directs wives to go on a mission, husbands to go to another mission and the children to go into full-time daycare? Recently I heard Father direct 4200 Japanese wives to go to South America. Some had 2 month old babies. I heard another 6000 wives be asked to go all over the world.

In such a situation, Father becomes our Enemy of Love. Can we love and obey, recognizing gratefully the opportunity to bring Satan’s retreat?

What are the possible responses? One is to gratefully obey; such a family would be blessed later. Another is to agree to go but not do it. The third response is to hide from such directions. The second and third responses are common, aren’t they? Satan will not surrender to such families, but rather can attack them.

God does not want blessed families attacked. Father takes on their attack instead. "I took blessed families from the Satanic world, but they do not carry out their responsibilities, so I must bear it."

God wants to protect Father so Satan’s attack comes first to True Children instead of Father.

Father loves Un Jin Nim. He supported her work in the Olympics and now her trainer has taken her. He is Father’s Enemy of Love and Father must forgive and not resent him.

[Interestingly, someone told me yesterday that only recently Father was able to forgive Maria Pak who had wrecked the providence in the early days in Korea due to her refusal to accept Principle and Father and her unleashing of persecution on him. Father had wrestled with this all these years. Dr. Lee spoke to her in spirit world and this speeded the process. Father recalled her miserable death -- she was murdered by her son who then killed himself -- and could find a way to forgive.

[Father told us that Sung Jin Nim’s mother and True Mother need to be reconciled, too. Forgiveness is a crucial part of True Parents’ course.]

As Jesus was never meant to face the cross, so Father was never meant to face this. Father is transforming his agony into a condition of redemption for us and humanity and to comfort God.

Father tells himself to practice Absolute Faith, Absolute Love and Absolute Obedience towards God before he asks us to do the same.

At this time of crisis, if we can pass over this hill, a new beginning, a new world awaits.

[Exactly the same expression was used when Father was about to go into Danbury prison.]

Jesus lost all his disciples at the end except three. They could have been enough to make the critical difference. In the same way, blessed families are shaken but the faithful ones can turn the tide. The problem can be repaired if the disciples can unite.

In the Garden, God was invisible so He could do little. In this case, Father is visible, so restoration is more possible.

Please don’t criticize Hyo Jin Nim, Nan Sook or the other True Children from the secular point of view.

Father has not been defeated by this test. We can repent and unite with him. Children’s Day is an opportunity to show our new heart to him.
