HARP April News

This year’s Italian HARP Easter workshop took place in Colle Mattia, Rome, out in the countryside surrounded by hills. It wasn’t the first workshop we’ve held there, so the site was already well known by most of the participants. We arrived the 24th evening (well, some people did…) and it officially ended the 28th of March. Because of Dae Mo Nim’s visit to Europe we were less participants than normal. We were about 30 HARPies plus teachers and cooks, when we’re normally about twice as much. Some were worried that it wouldn’t be as much fun because of all our friends that were missing…those who thought like that - I think - were proven wrong! My personal experience was quite positive. With fewer people we got to get to know each other a bit better. We from north Italy arrived by train, and we reached the WS site at 2 in the morning of the 25th, where we joined and greeted all the others that stayed up to welcome us. So we kind of felt the team-unity from the first night.

It all went pretty smoothly, with lots of fun! We had some very inspiring lessons as well: a Presentation of the Culture of Heart given by Tokuwa, a Pure Love lecture given by Min Hwa, the Korean Pure Love missionary in Italy, lessons on true father’s life by Giuseppe Calì, the national leader, and a lesson called "The last day of the revolution of heart and the foundation of faith" by Ignazio Cabras. I’m very grateful for this opportunity that we had to hold this workshop and the experience was worth it. We also had some serious discussions on the foundation of faith, the culture of heart and how to put it into practice, and on what a real "leader" is. This last point many of the older harpies took very seriously because this was Tokuwa’s last Italian workshop as HARP leader. He will in fact be finishing high school this year and will leave his place a new HARP committee. On the last evening we had a nice family evening and some thank-you gifts for him, in gratitude for all of the sacrifices he’s done for everyone in these past 2 years. All in all the WS was a success and I hope that all of the participants can have gone home richer, in spirit and in friendships.
