On Friday, 25th March, 2011 the Women's Federation for World Peace Scotland held the official launch of their "Easy Recipes' book at the Acorn Center of the Methodist Church in Leith, Edinburgh. Following the recent earthquake and tsunami in the Northeast of Japan, members of the WFWP Scotland decided to use the event to raise money for the victims of these disasters. In line with the theme, the event was opened with some Harp music played by Mrs. Mio Shapley and Japanese harp music by Mrs. Alyson Cameron. Mrs. Tamara Mhura then explained about the work of WFWP in Scotland, how the idea for a recipe book came about and how it was possible to finally create it with the help of a Lottery Fund (Awards for All).

Afterwards the local councilor Mr. Cammy Day, who is very active in the community spoke in recognition of the work of the WFWP and expressed his desire to be kept updated on further activities.

Mrs. Harumi Currie, chairperson of the WFWP Scotland, spoke briefly about the situation in Japan and expressed the gratitude of Japanese people for all the world wide support at this difficult time. More than 100 people gathered to witness the event and donated generously by buying the "Easy Recipes" book or other articles from Japan that were on sale.

While everyone tried out the recipes from different parts of the world, there was continuing entertainment by an African drummer and a South American choir. The atmosphere in the hall was buzzing with people enjoying delicious food, trying to find out where it was from by referring to the recipe book.

Mrs. Harumi Currie closed the evening by thanking all those who contributed their recipes which made it possible to publish the "Easy Recipes" book and also by preparing samples for everyone to taste. All in all the evening was a great success and a total income of £1032.33 was raised and will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross through the Japanese Embassy in London.
