I. 40-Day Kodiak Ocean Education Program

II. 7-Day Kodiak Youth Ocean Challenge Program

Ocean Education Program will be held this summer through fall of 2008 (starting July 18, 2008 through September 7, 2008) in Kodiak, Alaska. Sponsored by Kodiak Ocean Church.

I. For Young Adults (from 18to 30 years old): 40-DAY KODIAK OCEAN EDUCATION PROGRAM

Purpose of Program: To Inherit the Alaskan Spirit (experience and gain proficiency in the ocean environment)

Date: July 18~August 26th

Workshop Contents:

A. True Parents and the Ocean Providence

B. Divine Principle Lectures and Internal Guidance

C. Boat Captain Training

1)Rule of the road

2)Navigation skills

3)Boat preparation and handling

4)Boat Operation

5)Electronics

6)Seamanship

7)Safety at Sea

8)First aid

D. Ocean and River Fishing

E. Fishing Tackle Proper Handling and Storage

F. Fish Clean up and Processing

G. Seafood Food Preparation

Fee: US $1,000

Participants: STF graduates and other interested youth. Due to the character of the program, participation will be limited to 6 persons.

Notes:

1) Graduates of the 40-DAY CAPTAIN TRAINING PROGRAM may stay in Kodiak through September 7th as boat captains and staff for the annual Kodiak Peace King Cup Fishing Tournament. (Date of tournament not confirmed.)

2) This is a pretty serious training program so if you are only looking for some fun, please do not attend.

3) This is not a program for a US Coast Guard Captain License.

II. For Youth (17 years old and under) -- Two Groups - 7 DAY-KODIAK YOUTH OCEAN CHALLENGE PROGRAM

Purpose of Program: To Meet Heavenly Father and True Parents in Nature

Date: 1st Group: August 8th ~ August 14th, 2nd Group: August 15th ~ August 21st

Contents:

A. True Parents and the Ocean Providence

B. Divine Principle Lectures and Internal Guidance

C. Ocean and River Fishing and Other Outdoor Activities

Participants:6th Grade ~ 12th Grade

Fee: $300 (non-Alaskan residents 16 years old and above need to pay an additional $75 for fishing license)
