The Young Man and the Sea

by Mamoru Oyama

Right after the World CARP Convention this winter I was invited to Hawaii to participate in a fishing tournament and training. A long session of sport fishing in the Pacific might sound like the ultimate dream assignment, but after few weeks of very early mornings, rough seas and empty hooks it sure didn’t feel that way anymore.

And then, just when it looked like we’d be going home empty-handed came the special day that made it all worthwhile. After a long fight we landed a real monster blue marlin. A picture is worth a thousand words, and a big marlin weighs more than a thousand pounds.

Can’t wait till we catch the next one!
