New Church Planted in Sacramento

In line with the recent theme of Church Growth through Empowering Tribal Messiah’s a special event took place in the capitol city of California recently. Sunday, March 28, 2004, the Sacramento Valley Family Church (SVFC) had their kick-off celebration. The Regional Directory, Rev. Man Ho Kim, and Vice Regional Director, Rev. Kevin Thompson, officially appointed Rev. Charles de Watteville as the Sacramento Pastor and Minister Kevin Brugman as the Assistant Pastor.

Approximately 30 adults and 30 children gathered for songs, congratulatory remarks by Rev. Kim, a special address by Rev. Thompson, and a potluck dinner. The event was held in the Sakurabana Restaurant where SVFC has been holding Sunday church services for the past two months. Rev. Thompson encouraged members to develop their tribal messiah work and to use SVFC as a resource for accomplishing the tribal messiah mission. As the capitol city of California it is very important for True Parents to have a church there and the expectation is that this church quickly. The members of Sacramento have already demonstrated a strong desire to take ownership of their church and develop a strategy for success. Rev. de Watteville thanked the Sacramento members and the Regional leadership for their support.
