Zambia

Zambia is a country that has an enormous potential to realize God's providence. Its population is six million, among which 95 percent are Christian. Its land is one of the most fertile in the world and the possibility of agricultural growth is great. While most African countries have seen their governments change several times since their independence, Zambia has enjoyed relative political stability.Missionaries were first dispatched here in 1975 and the church was officially registered on February 27, 1980. In 1983, Reverend Chung-hwan Kwak met Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, president of Zambia, and presented him with Divine Principle. In the same year, with the arrival of many missionaries, missionary activity developed rapidly. In 1984, a rally was held under the slogan "God Bless Zambia." 1600 attended the first three days of the rally. A two-month seminar course was initiated in 1988. A radio broadcast, The Unification Church Hour, was also launched in 1988. So far, more than 30,000 people have signed membership application forms.
Beside the two-month seminar, there are two-day and seven-day workshops, an annual church festival, and weekly broadcasts of the Principle on radio. Ecumenical work began in 1985 and a PWPA chapter was established in 1983 by D. Ferrantello. In 1975, a sausage factory was built in Zambia, thus serving as fertilizer for missionary work in the neighboring region.
