Guyana

The mission in Guyana began when Barbara Burrowes, who had been studying in Italy, was sent to her mother country as a missionary on May 1, 1971. She began her mission immediately, teaching the Principle to her family members, and officially establishing the church on May 12. She gained a positive response from the government through her various contacts, and the church's registration was soon approved.

Missionary Yukio Hayashi arrived there from Japan in 1975, and a delegation of seven members delivered the Divine Principle book to the president when they visited him on March 7, 1986. From the early missionary days, the church acquired many members by witnessing through radio programs and newspapers. A singing group, Los Internacionales, was established which toured globally. The church building of those early days is now used as a home for orphans. Named Joshua House, it is being run with the help of the International Relief Friendship Foundation (IRFF).
