Ecuador

Witnessing activity began with the arrival of the missionaries in 1975, and the first member joined in 1977. More recently, a forty-day workshop was held to increase membership. As Ecuador is one of the most peaceful countries in this region, and guarantees religious freedom, the church did not receive much religious persecution. But through distorted media reports about Reverend Moon, which also caused the missionaries' faces to become known, it suffered heavily. In 1989, the church built its own headquarters, a base from which the missionaries work together with the core members.
