Bolivia

The mission in Bolivia began in 1975 with the arrival of Raymond Mas from the United States, Haruhiko Iwasawa from Japan and Margaret Mori from Germany. In the early days, they witnessed mainly to students. In June 1976, the missionaries were able to meet with President Hugo Banzer and, on that foundation, the church could register officially, on July 13, 1978.

However, with the radicals winning power, the church could not work in public rom 1983 to 1987 and was limited to underground activity. The government even took steps to oppose the work of CAUSA and IFVOC. However, by the end of 1987 the church had received twelve thousand signatures in a campaign of support for Reverend and Mrs. Moon's vision and work for humanity.

Bolivia has been politically unstable, and, since up until the 1950s, many people had been unable to receive education (60 percent of the population are the native peoples), their educational level was quite low. Accordingly, the missionaries faced many restrictions.
