Colombia

Witnessing activity began in 1975 when a missionary team Linda Perry from the United States, Toru Itagaki from Japan and Barbara Heinbuch from Germany arrived.

Missionary activity in Colombia faced considerable difficulties from the outset due to the easygoing nature of the people. Although several missionaries had come, they later returned home without notable success.

The Church, however, flourished under Shigeyuki Nakai, a missionary from Japan, who came later, and the membership further increased after Reverend Moon visited the church.
In 1985, Christopher Olson was given responsibility for the northern area of South America, and a center was built in Bogota, constituting a substantial foundation in the north.
On June 14, 1985, seven members established the Colombian chapter of the Professors' World Peace Academy and it received formal recognition from the government on November 21. The chapter holds an annual convention.

Efforts are being made to raise up core members through 1-day, 2-day, 7-day and 21-day workshops, and to help students understand our movement through CARP activities such as the Hanmadang Sports Festival.
