America Seen As New Garden of Eden

One person wrote, "Standing aboard the Arabella in 1630, John Winthrop declared in the linguistic style of his day 'that men shall say of succeeding plantacions: the lord make it like that of New England: for wee must Consider that wee shall be as a Citty upon a Hill.'" Sadly, the pioneers of America did not know exactly how to build a new nation. There was lots of trial and error. They were up against unbelievable odds, but their faith and determination were awesome.

One person wrote, "puritan endeavors to grow an organic community took place not within a garden of Eden, but within a wilderness of evil. The struggle of building within that wilderness of demonic threats was viewed as a terrible ordeal designed to test God's chosen people before the promise was to be fulfilled."

America should have embraced the concept of communal living, instead of only a handful. The biggest reason the 99% didn't and still don't is because all the books and experiments of close communities has always had a fatal flaw. They are socialistic. This means they violate the basic law of the universe that God made for human relationships in communities. That law is the law of Free Enterprise. Socialism is of Satan. Sadly Satan corrupted what God had hoped would be the way everyone would organized themselves. Therefore the study of communal living is a tragic history of a tiny few idealists beating their heads against a wall.

Plymouth Plantation

I write of how the Pilgrims first organized themselves with socialism in my book, 1620: The Pilgrims and the New Pilgrims. William Bradford writes eloquently in America's first classic book, Plymouth Plantation, that they almost starved because of it. He had the sense to change 180 degrees and introduce free enterprise and Americans have prospered ever since. Unfortunately they decided to use their freedom to also live individualistic lives. Capitalism was great, but America would have been wealthier and happier if they had embraced communal living as well. Eventually they gave up even living in nature and moved to cities where there is little nature and great isolation. Many people don't even know who their neighbors are. There is tremendous isolation and neuroses because people do not circle the wagons and eat together.
