Hare Krishna

The two most famous so-called cults of the 1970s were the Unification Chruch and Hare Krishna whose leader is a Hindu from India. Even though they look and live a bizarre lifestyle, America should be tolerant.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness was founded by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1965 when he came from India to America. It is a Hindu religion. The members have centers where guests can come. They are vegetarians. They are noticeable because they often shave their heads and chant, "Hare Krishna ... Hare Rama."

One article says they intend to build an ideal city, "Srila Prabhupada also inspired the construction of several large international cultural centers in India. The center at Sridhama Mayapur is the site for a planned spiritual city, an ambitious project for which construction will extend over many years to come."

We should be tolerant of different religious expressions. It is wrong for the press to give respect to anti-cult, anti-moon, type people who say they are experts. They are just religious bigots who cannot respect other people. the Krishna's believe in many good things such as no immoral sex, no intoxication, and no gambling. I think they are wrong in being strict vegetarians.

Their leader, Srila Prabhupada, says, "You must have sex like this: once in a month and only for begetting children." I believe he is wrong. But I don't believe that I or anyone should go to court and mock these people while trying to sue them because they live a "High Intesity" life.
