Seonghwa Ceremony for Rev. Ahn Chang-seong
July 23, 2006
Rev. Ahn Chang-seong, our elder brother of the 36 couples whose 40-day workshops were held worldwide in the early 1990s, ascended yesterday (July 21) at 7:33 pm Korean time, at Chungshim Hospital. His Seunghwa Ceremony took place at 7:00 am on Sunday July 23, and his body was interred at Paju Wonjeon at an 11:00 am ceremony.
Rev. Ahn joined in November 1954 when he was a schoolteacher. He devoted his entire life to church ministry, in particular to teaching the Principle and to missionary work. In the late 1980s, Father assigned him to teach special 40-day workshops to members in the West, which he taught in English. In 1996, he became the National Messiah to Ecuador in South America. After hearing of his ascension, Rev. Kim Zin-moon said that although he (Rev. Kim) had had an emotional understanding of the Principle teachings, it was Rev. Ahn who had enabled him to appreciate their logic.
Rev. Ahn was 80 years of age (by Western reckoning).
Prayers are asked for his safe and comfortable transition into the spirit world.
