News Advisory:
An estimated 5,000 people are expected to join together in two major ceremonies for peace this weekend at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, New York on Saturday, April 29th and again on Sunday, April 30th at Hopewell Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.
Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the wife of internationally known evangelist and spiritual leader Reverend Sun Myung Moon, will officiate at the World Peace Blessing together with the Moon's third son, Hyun Jin, a noted entrepreneur and Harvard graduate.
Dr. Moon will deliver a keynote address as part of her international speaking tour that begins today in Bridgeport, CT. Other North American cities include Boston on Monday, Washington DC, Miami, Winston Salem, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. A noted peace activist, Dr. Moon has spoken at the United Nations and the Kremlin Palace in Moscow and the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and has been awarded several honorary degrees for her peace and humanitarian work.
The tour follows the successful 2005 journey that took Rev. and Mrs. Moon to 67 nations in as many days. "I found that people everywhere are facing the same challenges, and want the same things," says Dr. Moon, "and the time has come for a new approach to making peace, through the logic of love, rather than the logic of politics or power." Peace begins in the family, says the mother of 14 and grandmother of 25.
"This is God's time," says Bishop Cecil Riley, one of the dozens of prominent New York clergy expected to attend the event and co-convener of the New York American Clergy Leadership Conference, "This nation was founded with a strong sense of divine calling, and Father and Mother Moon are urging us to turn to God to find a renewed purpose."
"We need new hope for American families," says Dr. Lonnie McLeod of the Exodus ministry in Harlem, "and we will not have a healthier nation without healthier families."
