The Words of the Beutl Family

Appeal to support the Victory over Communism (Part 3)

Nikolaus Beutl
July 4, 2009

My dear brothers and sisters,

On July 1-2, Astana, Kazakhstan, hosted the 3rd Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions with delegations from different world religions, honorable guests and representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and UNESCO taking part in this conference dealing with themes like: The Role of Religious Leaders in Building a Tolerant World in Conditions of Globalization; Moral and Cultural Wealth -- World Ethics; Dialogue and Cooperation.

At the link: kazakhstanlive.com you are presently welcomed with a film about religion in that country where most recently a conference was held in its capital with an impressive list of participation of religious leaders from around the world, about which one could read: "Kazakhstan is today a model of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional accord. Many religious figures understand the necessity and importance of inter-religious reconciliation and are taking specific steps towards this objective." The Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions has been Kazakhstan’s contribution to the global process of inter-cultural dialogue. It justifiably occupies a special place in the efforts made by the world community towards strengthening principles of tolerance, mutual understanding, dialogue and cooperation. Kazakhstan’s initiative -- which is supported by the United Nations -- is a timely measure.“

Please take the time to become also familiar with the film Common World Forum on that homepage which is introduced with the words: "Religious and ethnic misunderstanding and intolerance have become urgent issues throughout the world and on October 17th 2008 Kazakhstan shared its experience on developing interfaith and inter-ethnic peace at the COMMON WORLD: PROGRESS THROUGH DIVERSITY forum in Astana. “

Kazakhstan is a country where 130 nationalities live peacefully together with over 40 religious confessions: "Their peaceful coexistence is a non-negotiable priority within the state policy. Tolerance in society is a common standard of behavior. The president of that country Nazarbayev says that "Inter-confessional dialog is one of the key ways of public development and improvement of prosperity of all nations.“ and that “Diversity is not a disadvantage but a priceless blessing from God due to which mutual enrichment and development can occur.“

Kazakhstan became historically the venue for the interaction of various civilizations and religions while today’s efforts to support peace is expressed e.g. in the construction of the Palace of Peace and Accord and the initiation of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions. The law on religious freedom was one of the first laws adopted in this nation after acquiring independence. It is said that the capital is a dynamic city which will play an important role in the quest for world peace.

So many good things can be said in respect to Kazakhstan’s efforts towards inter-religious peace and understanding while at the same time it is the country where our members are at risk to be sent to prison any time for the mere fact of teaching the Divine Principle to another person. What a contradiction!

What stands behind this situation? I wrote a lot about inner reasons for external developments in my letters which I published in the book "Sunshine in the Heart“ where I covered also the topic of religious persecution. Whatever theme of historic developments one may choose, when we look at them from the viewpoint of the battle between God and Satan it becomes clear that there are always central figures on both sides who decide the direction into which history moves.

We know of God’s overall providence to restore this world and how He prepared certain countries to contribute in special ways for the purpose of restoration, but if the chosen people fail to fulfill their responsibility the ones on Satan’s side have the possibility to move ahead and further their evil cause. As I explained in my appeal to support the victory over communism, there was the chance for our movement to take the lead in bringing peace and moral standards to formerly communist countries but we failed in this task. Therefore the Cain realm of the Orthodox Church came to dominate the Abel realm of the Unification Movement to a certain extent in Russia and Kazakhstan just as well as many other countries.

The representative of the Muslim faith mentions in the above mentioned film that the communists destroyed 13 of the 14 mosques in the country, reminding us of the efforts of communist activists to eradicate religion. On an external level it appears that there is religious freedom but in reality there is serious persecution of religious minorities which are considered harmful to society. Who decided which groups are dangerous? We know the answer: People who do not have a true sincere relationship with God but pursue purposes centered on their own (religious) interests.

This means that the ones who should guarantee religious tolerance -- in the given case especially the Orthodox Church, persecutes others just as the Catholic Church had done in the past with the inquisition. This problem of the religious leadership has not stopped in front of the doors of the Unification Church but the same has been happening to a certain extent within our own ranks at those places where brothers and sisters were kicked out of church communities or centers because they had another attitude or understanding than the leader.

The ones who have read the book “Sunshine in the Heart“ know of concrete examples in this respect and about the struggle among leaders, especially national messiahs, concerning which spirit prevails within our movement. The end result is most sadly a negative one in many ways, which is the inner reason for our sister Elizaveta Drenicheva having to go to prison due to religious persecution in Kazakhstan and other countries which has newly arisen after this problem has not been solved within our church. This statement is proven by many facts and rooted in the Principle of restoration.

In other words, the contradictory situation in Kazakhstan (and other countries) of officially propagating religious tolerance and freedom while suppressing in reality dedicated people of faith, has its inner roots in the Abel realm of our movement not having resolved this internal problem of the ones chosen to represent God’s side, to truly manifest Heaven’s standard.

God’s providence has to move on as there is a certain time table. Therefore our movement as a whole has to pay indemnity by receiving religious persecution while the leaders of religions meet to discuss themes of inter-religious understanding and cooperation like in the above introduced conference -- which should be of course originally initiated by our representatives -- while in reality we are an oppressed little group in that nation.

Communists speak of an ideal society and people have been moved to contribute to the good cause while in reality they found themselves in most cases to be victims of a system of suppression with no real freedom in a society where a leading class is taking advantage of the majority of people. This spirit has sadly been practiced by Christian leaders which set the condition for communism to arise.

And tragically it became once again a reality in certain places within our movement, so that the (external) victory over communism which had been achieved by the beginning of the last decade of the 20th century, allowing us to start a successful work in formerly communist countries, turned again back into a situation of serious religious persecution because a certain communist spirit had infiltrated our own church.

Religious people of other faith orientations were confronted in the worst times with the inquisition from the side of the ones in power while this satanic attitude was perfected in communism by cruel dictators who sent millions of people into a destiny of indescribable suffering and death, in most cases only because they had a differing opinion from the ruling party. Fear and distrust prevails in communist societies.

The brutal rule of godless communism came to an end in most communist nations with the fall of the iron curtain and the doors were open for God’s side to blossom on the fertile ground of so much innocent blood having been shed in the countries of the former Soviet Union. But instead of God’s seed bringing rich fruits the victory over the spirit of communism was not achieved because some of our own members have big problems in this respect, which led to Hyung Jin Nim having to say in public at various occasions that we do not want tyrannical leadership in our church.

This means, because we ourselves have been infected by communist attitudes in one way or another the wheel of history was turned again in favor of satanic forces with the present situation of religious persecution like in the dark Soviet times having become once again a reality with more sophisticated methods applied.

Members of the True Family in leadership positions work very hard to expel false attitudes from our movement in order to achieve an inner purification, which enables us to receive God’s blessing and guidance so that we can fulfill our calling to contribute to the restoration of this world by 2013.

The task of purifying our movement or church in order to return to its original spirit remains an urgent priority for Heaven because only when false concepts and attitudes are overcome within our members can God use us to bring people to His side. The poor results of our work during the last decades show how far we have deviated from the heart and mindset with which our True Parents started their mission.

In my appeal to support the victory over communism I pointed out a few aspects of how our actions as Abel are reflected in what happens in the Cain realm. For example, if we exclude brothers and sisters who have a different attitude than our own from our hearts, from our communities, including internet groups, then we do not need to be surprised that the same is happening afterwards also in the outside world towards us, what we experience e.g. in the religious persecution in many countries of the former Soviet Union based on the Orthodox Church claiming to represent the only true believers and therefore having the right to suppress and eliminate other religious groups.

The pattern is always the same: What is not resolved in the heart finds its way to substantial negative deeds, laying in this way conditions which make more indemnity necessary in order to restore the wrongful situations which come about in this way. I really hope that more and more members of our movement realize that what is going on in the world does not happen separately from us but is directly connected with our behavior as representatives of God’s side.

The Divine Principle is not a theory but the practical key to understand historical developments clearly from God’s point of view. This precious book deals basically with questions up until the Second Coming of the Lord, the last chapter of this revelation from God. What about the history since the Marriage of the Lamb, the fulfillment of God’s providence to send the True Parents to Mankind? It has been written by the members of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity and by those who represent the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification -- all of us.

In the first part of my appeal to support the victory over communism I made a typing mistake of entering the number 2 instead of 1 when referring to the year the Soviet Union was dissolved. Upon realizing this I rewrote the respective paragraph and the beginning of the one following:

The Soviet Union was officially founded in December 1922 and ended in the last month of 1991, after 7 decades of its existence. This has been prophesied by True Father telling us repeatedly in the 1980s that Soviet communism will not go beyond 70 years. December 1991 also marks the victory of True Father in North Korea, where he signed a joint statement on the 5th while 3 days later the presidents of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus declared the dissolution of the Soviet Union which was confirmed through the Alma Ata Declaration on the 21st of that historic month.

Gorbachev resigned as president of the USSR on December 25, 1991 and on the same day in 2008 -- the case of a Unification Movement member was dealt with in the court and two weeks later the decision pronounced: Elizaveta Drenicheva is guilty. This means that in the capital of Kazakhstan where Satan’s fortress was officially dissolved, our sister had to enter prison 17 years later in order to pay indemnity representing our movement who has failed to share God’s love and truth in the right way with the people of the (formerly) communist world...

The essence of my appealing to you for the sake of overcoming communism is clear: This ideology represents a mindset which is not far away from us but has found its way into our own hearts without us becoming aware of it in most cases. We may think that we are basically ok but in reality our mind is on the whole quite distant from the realm where our Heavenly Father could directly guide us and accordingly all our efforts bring little result because we are doing “our” mission rather than having God speak through us as we reach out to others.

In other words, our efforts are not based on a living relationship to the living God but rather on a more theoretical concepts where we may pray faithfully but have few experiences of God’s direct guidance due to our standing in a midway position where our Heavenly Father cannot be close to us.

May we all succeed in recognizing and fully eliminating any traces of the communistic attitudes in our own minds, a task which may be summarized in walking the way of true love in the presence of the living God while not allowing any kind of resentful feeling to occupy our hearts, rather than being in a situation where God is not really alive in our midst which is symbolically similar to communist societies who advocate that there is no God.

Sincerely yours,

Nikolaus
