The Words of the Biddle Family |
January 2007 ACLC Prayer Breakfast - Cleveland Ohio
Bruce and Keiko Biddle
January 2007
Our January prayer breakfast was held at New Life Fellowship in Oberlin, just west of Cleveland. After the delicious breakfast prepared by the church sisters, everyone gathered in the sanctuary. This month’s program commemorated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Pastor Figueroa, Master of Ceremonies, brought together the attention of all with his warm welcome and wonderful musical offerings. Rev. Frank Stevenson gave the strong and beautiful invocation. Rev. Bruce Biddle read scripture and Sister Ann Grace read a poem she had written about Dr. King.
Wonderful praise dances were performed next by the talented young women of Cleveland Liturgical Dance. With our spirits now sufficiently lifted, Rev. Joel Lindstrom introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Thelma Johnson. Her message was a warm and powerful exploration of "The Power of Love". Everyone took part in the Blessing Ceremony that followed. This first prayer breakfast for 2007 ended with Pastor Figueroa leading all in a united closing song.
It is always inspiring to see many races and denominations singing together, as if Dr. King’s dream is really becoming a reality. The service was truly a call to action, and we will continue through our interfaith events to move toward the ideal of "One family under God".
Thank you, Dr. Johnson, for all the careful planning and investment of heart that resulted in such a fine program. Gratitude also goes to all who came and participated and all who were absent but supported the day in prayer.
