National Harp Report - Denmark

June 2003

Hello everybody! Greetings from Denmark.

Last month I didn't get around to reporting for the month of March. Basically the usual things happened. However at one of our weekly meetings we had a testimony from a 1st generation. It’s always nice to hear testimonies and very important in understanding the 1st generation. Other than that we started preparing a little for the Easter Children’s WS (CHARP WS).

In the month of April the preparations for the WS intensified. We asked parents for their support, sent out invitations and planned the schedule. Sibéal and I were the main organisers, but basically all Senior HARP were involved. Johannes as sportsmaster and MC, Emi also as sportsmaster, Yumiko and Laura were responsible for the games. We also had great support from the 1st generation. Our national leader gave DP lectures together with another 1st generation who also functioned as WS mother. 3 more of the 1st generation were in some way involved with the WS. We were really grateful for all the support we got from the parents.

Since this was the first WS for children 12 and under, we wanted the children to somehow understand who they are and what they have in common and therefore we chose the motto "We are one". The WS had 13 participants and lasted from the 17. - 20. April. Even though 13 sounds like a small number of people it was quite a bit more than we had expected.

The WS started with a short orientation at 19:30 on the 17. April. I spoke about the purpose of the WS and the schedule. After that two teams were created and we concluded the evening. Basically the everyday schedule was getting up for morning sports at 6:45 and then at 7:00 morning service. At 7:30 we would have breakfast, and then from 8:15 until 11:30 we would have lectures interrupted by some breaks. Then after lunch we would have 3 hours of sport and then 3 hours of games and song practise. At song practise Sibéal would teach them the Lion King II song "We Are One", which was the WS song that we were going to perform for the parents on the last day of the WS. After dinner we once had a testimony and once watched a movie. Then the day was concluded. The girls would go to the girl’s room and have fun and talk and the boys would go to the beach and play soccer before the house was quiet and everybody were asleep. On the last day of the WS we had children’s Sunday service about True Family. After that we joined the adult’s Sunday service and concluded the WS with them. The children sang "We are one" and several parents were moved to tears. Even though the WS was officially concluded we still had a chocolate egg hunt to go since it was Easter Sunday.

All in all the WS went really well. There were no problems and all the participants seemed to enjoy themselves. The parents thanked us many times for the WS.

The following week at our HARP meeting we talked about the WS. This was only the 2nd WS that HARP ever had organised. ARP We decided to make two CHARP WSs a year. One at Christmas and one at Easter.

That’s all for this time.
Have a great month of May.
