Please see below for a very helpful overview of the Bromley Community by Rev David Hanna:

Bromley is a thriving Church Community and the tenth largest in Europe.

It began life fifteen years ago, centering on a handful families who lived in the area. The South London Church based in Tooting was growing too large for one pastor to handle and it was thought best to divide and begin a new church in the Bromley area where we already had the Livingstone House property (it was little used for public events at that time). We felt it important to make a base from where we could reach out to people who represent the solid core of traditional English society. The Dedication Ceremony was held on 21 March 1996.

Currently the congregation numbers more than 180 members and associate members. Of these, 37 are children under thirteen, 10 are between thirteen and eighteen and 25 are between nineteen and twenty-two. We have a high proportion of elders and very experienced members -- providing a lot of support for any pastor and many chances to hear first-hand reports that keep us in touch with frontline providential developments. Although our name for the community is 'Bromley', members of the congregation come from far afield: from Hastings, Eastbourne and the South Coast, to Canterbury, Maidstone and Colchester, and further west to Wimbledon and even Basingstoke.

Sunday Service attendance is averaging at 72 for this year and we have a reliable Sunday School program. We have several Ambassadors for Peace who attend the service regularly and who are active in local projects. In 2009, three asked if they could join as Family Federation members, and last year five people signed membership -- so the community is growing and is set to grow even more this year.

We have an active UPF team, and new WFWP representatives were recently appointed. Of course, we also have the benefit of being able to use Livingstone House. Making greater use of this facility, local members are developing an outreach project, the Livingstone Center for Spirituality and the Arts which involves the upgrading of facilities and a new spirit of openness towards the local community.

Whoever comes to take over from the retiring pastor couple will find a warm welcome, 'willing hearts and open minds', and exciting prospects.
