American Unificationists and their families will have TV worth watching on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 10:00 PM EST (9:00 PM CST) when the TLC Network airs the special documentary, "Mass Moon Wedding".
The show had been dubbed "Married to the Moonies", but after letters of concern to TLC management from Unificationist leaders and ministers affiliated with the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), the title on the day of broadcast will be "Mass Moon Wedding", according to executives at Discovery Communications, the parent company for TLC.
As reported by Futon Critic, a web-based TV programming website, on June 27th, the show is about the following:
"Married to the Moonies follows three young couples as they travel to Korea to be blessed by their messiah, Reverend Moon, at one of the movement's controversial mass weddings. The three undertake a condensed courtship -- meeting and making plans for the future with a person they hardly know."
An earlier version of the documentary, produced by Firecracker Films in London, aired on Britain's Channel 4 on May 31, 2012 and was reported by Familyfed.org.
The July 8th show will feature Toby Gullery and his new bride Sunny, new residents of Ossining, N.Y.
By all accounts, the film conveys to large American audiences for the first time the romance and idealism that have inspired so many second-generation Unificationists to join in the Holy Blessing of True Parents.
