The Words of the Cromwell Family |
I realized something the other day which really struck me. I came to understand something which seemed to be a fundamental strategy of Satan, and more generally, evil. That is their work to make human beings hate themselves. I realized that everything Satan and evil tries to make us do has the result of making us hate ourselves. Think about drug and alcohol abuse, cigarette smoking, free sex, homosexuality, incest, all the problems that Father is talking about.
Imagine a world without those problems. Those are all things that Satan and evil offer as solutions to problems. Those are all things that are disguised as "true love," and are Satan's version of true love. People become addicted and think that they not only want, but also need and perhaps love such activities. However, it is my belief that in their most private moments, during a hangover, after having broken up with a boyfriend / girlfriend, or after losing their innocence, what hits them is self-hate. All human beings have an original mind and therefore have some knowledge of what they should be like, how they should live. What Satan does is he manipulates people and then leaves them to feel what their original mind thinks of what they did. In those moments, more conscientious people might feel guilt, shame, or regret and may decide to change their lives.
However, people who don't follow their conscience in their lives may not feel guilt, shame or regret because they may feel that they are the only judge of what is right and wrong, good and evil, just and unjust. In that case, the emotion that they would inevitably feel, through the working of their original minds, is self-hate. I am not saying that the original mind itself causes self-hate. The original mind simply shows the individual the disparity between his life and the way his life should be. Then fallen nature, more specifically a tendency to give up in a fight between mind a body, in other words a tendency to give in to the bodily desires, kicks in, affirming the individual's need to continue his fallen lifestyle. As a result of that fallen nature, Satan and evil would then aim to make the individual hate himself.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, God's goal is only to make people love themselves. How can He do this? In reality, human beings can only love themselves when they fulfill God's purpose of creating human beings, which from a human being's point of view is a human being's true purpose for existence. Therefore, God's only choice is to try to help human beings live according to His Purpose, His Will, His Principle. Because the most fundamental block for God in doing this is the evil lineage inherited by human beings, God must first cleanse the lineage of one individual, who then becomes the Messiah. From this Messiah and his true lineage, true life and true love can emerge, and through the efforts of the Messiah, true lineage can multiply, grow roots and branches and bear fruit. Therefore, God's providence for the restoration of humankind requires the advent of the Messiah and the cleansing of Satan's blood lineage in humankind.
In retrospect, this is a somewhat simplistic analysis of what Satan and evil does to us.
