40-day Workshop members attending the Hanshik Worship Ceremony

On Cheon-gi 3rd year March 15 by the Heavenly Calendar (solar: April 5), members of the 162nd Chung Pyung 40-day Workshop of around 70 went to Paju Wonjon and attended the 'Cheong-gi 3rd Year Hanshik Paju Wonjon Worship Ceremony'.

This day is called the 'Hanshik' which marks the 105th day since the winter solstice and is considered as one of the 4 great celebrating days of Korea. They ban the use of fire during the Hanshik period and eat cold food and in Korean families they will prepare different kind of beverages and offer their respect to their ancestors.

After offering of bows by each level of leadership, Rev. Jun-ho Seok first read True Father's words.

'What does it mean to follow tradition? What is tradition? Tradition? It is the foundation of achievements that our ancestors and elders left for us. When they shed tears then father will also shed tears. That is how the foundation of tradition can be built. However, you didn't do this. Do you understand? 'yes' That is the root but since you don't know about the root the leaves go bad. You must understand this.' (November 7, 1991) and then explained about Won Jon in the following.

'The name of Won Jon was bestowed right after the ascension of Heung Jin Nim. On December 30, 1983, True Parents visited Heung Jin Nim's accident site and decided to send Heung Jin Nim to the spirit world and held the unification ceremony. He then proclaimed the Day of Victory of Love, saying that 'He won against death with love'. As a result of the Day of Victory of Love, the Seunghwa Ceremony started to be held and through the Day of Victory of Love and the Seunghwa Ceremony, Heung Jin Nim gained the qualification of the prince on behalf of True Parents so that is why this place is called the Wonjon. This is the birthplace of unification church tradition and the most important base for the establishment of Cheon Il Guk'

Then President Seuk offered a benediction; 'As True Parents departed for the USA he said, "I am still leading the cultivation". When we think about True Parents who are still standing alone in the forefront of providence to restore father's homeland we feel so unworthy. We must be obedient sons and daughters in front of True Parents and inherit the traditions left behind by our elder blessed couples who had passed away. And towards the Foundation Day we must do our best and pour all of our energy and promise God that we will fulfill absolute faith, absolute love and absolute obedience in front of True Parents'.

After the worship ceremony at Heung Jin Nim's place all members visited each graves and then attended the same worship ceremony at grandfather Yun-guk Moon and Dae Mo Nim's grave and shared the cold food with each other.

An international member who is currently attending the 162nd Chung Pyung 40-day Workshop said; 'I felt that people really do care for the True Family, and can see that they really respect them a lot, especially for the sacrifices that they have made, I also respect them a lot.
