Africa Day to Be Commemorated in Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands -- An Africa Day evening will take place May 28 at the UPF Dialogue Center in Amsterdam. Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the 1963 founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which in 2002, became the African Union. UPF Netherlands is celebrating the day (officially May 25) on Friday evening, May 28.

A central feature will be a dinner, prepared by UPF Ambassador for Peace Paul Gron, originally from Suriname. Maartje Bos will talk about Community Partnership for Youth and Women Development, a multi-purpose community organization in Northern Ghana (www.partnershipghana.com). The program will include news of activities by UPF and Partners in Africa and UPF's celebration of the day.

The Africa Day 2010 theme is "Peace and Security in Africa."
