January 28, 2006

The Inter-religious & International Federation for World Peace and British Clergy Leadership Conference co-sponsored an Ambassador for Peace Awards Ceremony in North London on Saturday 28th January 2006. The meeting was held in the church hall of the Hornsey Moravian Church, Priory Road, Hornsey.

Mr. David Rennie, as MC, gave an eloquent introduction to stimulate everyone’s thinking about peace and tolerance between faiths. There followed a short DVD presentation on the recent projects of IIFWP and Reverend Moon’s work in promoting initiatives such as the IIPC and the Middle East Peace Initiative and in encouraging political, religious and academic leaders from around the world to work together with a greater vision.

Rev. Ken Duckworth then read out some excerpts from Rev. Moon’s speeches concerning fundamental issues such as unity and sacrificial love, which contribute towards building a peaceful world.

The presentation of the awards was carried out by the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr. Eddie Griffith, who graciously took the time to come and attend this meeting. After having presented the awards to the 12 nominees, the mayor himself, as the 13th nominee, received the award from Mr. Tim Read, national director for IIFWP, who shared a few words at the conclusion of presentations.

Everyone was then invited to share a toast with holy wine which was prepared by three second generation sisters, Rosanna O’Conell, Yoshika Kobayashi and Teresa Hays.

I would like to thank everyone involved for all their efforts in supporting this successful event! Thank you to all those who nominated someone, brought a guest, helped with preparations or simply attended on the day!
