The Words of the Edgerly Family |
One thing I am sure we all have learned, as we continue to see the dreadful pictures and hear bad news from Japan, is how much love we feel for that country. It is hard to not be constantly thinking about all of the misery and uncertainty the people in affected areas of Japan are now living through.
In the midst of this sadness, my wife Kinuyo received a call today from a close Unification Church friend who shared some good news. I am happy to share this news with you.
The leader the Unification Church in Miyagi Prefecture, which includes the city of Sendai, spent several days looking for all of his members to see if they were all safe. He visited many shelters. By the end of his search, he found every one of the members. None of them had perished.
My wife's friend also reported that ALL members from Fukushima and Iwate Prefectures were accounted for.
This sister is a very reliable source, so I have some degree of confidence in this information which I know provides some relief to all of us.
She also shared the following testimony with Kinuyo:
When the leader of Miyagi Prefecture was looking for the members, he met one sister who reported that she was in the water, being swept away by the tsunami, with little hope to live. Suddenly, a man reached out and grabbed her and lifted her to safe ground.
Another sister was driving a car in Sendai that was literally swept away by the rushing waters of the tsunami. The car was picked up and suddenly hit the roof of a house. She broke the window of the car, climbed out of the window and onto the roof. Sometime later she was lifted off the roof by a helicopter and carried to safety.
Sincerely,
Jim Edgerly
