Mrs. Erikawa Letter 8
Mrs. Erikawa
October 25, 1999
I really appreciate everyone's hard work. Almost all the regions have started the new way of witnessing. Now we are focusing on the blessing. To do this we are putting together a new education system. We are also witnessing on campuses across the nation. Sisterhood ceremonies are very effectively being held and the guests are very inspired by them.
My prayer for you is that you are able to do your best to bring victory. Here are some testimonies.
Report from North America Saint Vincent team
The sisters there are introducing True Parent's with photos and the Divine Principle on the street. Recently the number of people who buy the Divine Principle Book has been on the rise. We are trying to bring those people to the church center. One sister met a former church member, who is from Cuba. The person learned the Divine Principle but left the church more than ten years ago. She never forgot True Parents and spoke of them with tears. She is going to attend the Sunday service tomorrow.
Panama team
One sister (Ms. Yagami) met a former church member and he (or she) signed up (for the blessing). He (or she) was an active member in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, in 1993-94. After the person left the church, he (or she) went to England, then came to the United States one and half year ago. Since then, he (or she) has concerned about the church and prayed for it. One sister met a person, who is Korean-American and a friend of one of True Parents' grandsons, and brought to the center. After a lecture, they found he (or she) wanted to know about the blessing. Two years ago, he (or she) attended True Parents' speech and had a meal with True Parents and the grandson. He (or she) signed up today (for the blessing). At that time, he (or she) was on the way to Los Angeles, where there is his (or her) home. Tomorrow he (or she) is visiting the church there.
Bolivia team
More than 200 guests came to the Culture Night at one time. American members were surprised and felt hope. They have been awakened and are starting to get involved in the witnessing activities.
Costa Rica team
After the Sunday service, the Japanese sisters had sisterhood ceremonies with American members at the Washington DC and Maryland church, 15 and 12 sisters joined respectively. Both American and Japanese members were very moved and had a tearful moment. They are all members. How come were they so impressed? They all felt God was working with them.
El Salvador
After the service, Japanese sisters had a sisterhood ceremony with American members. In the afternoon, they visited Japanese families with whom they had the ceremonies last week, and they talked with one another. They will get some help from those members, going witnessing together and calling to guests.
Argentina team
After the service, they had a sisterhood ceremony with American members. They also set up a system to work together. American members were delighted and willing to worked together. They invited guests to dinner and after went sightseeing together. Japanese sisters were very happy, too. Some of those who signed up for the blessing are also participating in the 2-Day or 1-Day workshops. Everyone is working so hard and they are very happy doing so.
Peru team
Three guests who took part in the first event held here decided to go to 1-Day workshop on October 30th, after the regional leader talked with them after the Sunday service. The other three guests came for a family event with their friends and they also decided to attend 1-Day workshop. Sisters are very grateful to make appointments one after another and guests are very happy to come. American members, who talked with guests, are also very inspired. The family events at home are not merely a place to live but public space to revive members and guests alike. Now everyone has some confidence to witness to people. What is important is spiritual unity of members since the time is limited.
Canada team
They had 1-Day lectures in both English and Spanish. Hispanic guests are increasing. More than ten people came today and attended 1-Day workshop and promised to come again. Sisters are going to bring them to the blessing.
Saint Lucia team
In Las Vegas, they are going to have 1-Day and 2-Day workshops on October 16th. 15 people and 1 person are supposed to attend respectively. All of them are students of Las Vegas University. Also guests from good Christian families are listening to lectures and are inspired.
Minnesota team
They go to Minnesota University to witness during weekdays and go to give the blessing to Moon Tribe during the weekend. American members and Kodan sisters help Japanese sisters by talking with guests and giving lectures. They have made some groups that included American and Kodan members, Japanese sisters. The group members are taking care of guests. American members who did not come so often to the center are coming much more now. They take care of guests and everyone is inspired.
Surinam team
When one sister was looking at a picture of Jesus in the church, where 22 Chicago members were, she shed tears and felt Heung Jin Nim and Jesus were together there. She had difficulty bringing guests and had lost some faith. Then she heard a gentle voice saying, "You can do it. We support you." She was sure that she could do it absolutely with the faith. The next day, she made a strong determination but could not make any appointment. However, she talked with one person (39-year-old man, single) in the train on the way to the center and he promised to come. After that, when the guest was wondering if he should go, he heard a voice saying, "You should go." and finally he came. He said it was the voice of God. He has received two lectures (Resurrection and the Three Great Blessings). He was glad to understand clearly about what he had been wondering about. He is going to keep studying with us. The sister who brought him does not understand English much; however, she felt that the spiritual world helped her to meet him and give him alive. I pray for all of you.
