UFPA charity concert -- The United Filipinos for Peace and Advancement (UFPA) Mie Chapter in collaboration with the Suzuka Kameyama Filipino Community (SKFC) held a successful debut of charity concert last September 26, 2009 at the Suzuka Bunka Kaikan. Born out of the desire by the members of UFPA organization and the SKFC to be of help to our poor children in the Philippines, the charity concert was conceived aimed at raising funds for the under privilege but deserving students. The concert attracted the attention and attendance of concerned fellow Filipinos as well as Japanese audiences who have packed the concert hall not only to express their support for our cause but also came to share in the moments of joy and beautiful music by no less than our very own "Sun Band" who took the center stage and played their debut concert with their brand of music. They simply brought the house down with their musical enthusiasm to transform their talents into something that is worth the higher calling.
The band also performed with them a pool of equally talented Japanese volunteers who displayed their prowess for singing and playing instruments that wowed the audience with their great performance. It was indeed a two-hour packed full of colors and excitements that filled the concert hall and it was all worth the tickets, the efforts, the generosity of all sponsors and participants but more importantly, it was the first stage that gave birth to a new band, a new story and a new journey that will define us as a group with a vision and a goal for a greater cause. As the concert draw to the final curtain, the audience stood on their feet in applause and the band stood tall and proud for a night's performance. The audience cannot help for more as they waved their neon lights and joined the band in chorus as they sang the theme song from the Global Peace Festival- "Where Peace Begins." It was a success for a great performance and as we look back to our unfortunate Filipino children back home, the saga has just began and the best concert for a cause is yet to come.
