Report on Matching Meeting

Dear Bro/Sis:
I had a great experience this past weekend at the first Matching meeting for First Generation Candidates which was held in Baltimore with Dr. Yang, Mrs. Erikawa, Rev. Jenkins and Rev. Shanker and about 25 BFD representatives from around the country and Canada. The spirit was excellent as Mrs. Erikawa and Dr. Yang taught us about tradition and standards and procedures for matching and interviewing candidates, etc. We all learned a lot of important information. Only the Continental Director, National Messiah, National Leader or International IW are authorized to actually do the matching for First Generation candidates at this time. We were there to inform and support the processes and make suggestions that we thought might be good.
By the end of the 2-day meeting, about 15 couples were matched from all ages from the early 20's to the late 50's. One candidate was 77 years old. (He remained unmatched) Most candidates were sisters of all ages. Many potential candidates still need to get their paperwork submitted or medical exams done, etc. so they can be included next time. In the future, processes may change somewhat and requirements will no doubt be more strictly observed for candidates. Dr. Yang wants to meet for this matching process every 3 months.
I really felt a growing heavenly spirit through the weekend, and real focus and seriousness on the part of all the brothers and sisters involved. The attitude and prayerfulness and approach of Dr. Yang and Mrs. Erikawa was very inspiring to all and very heavenly in True Parents' tradition. I came away with a very inspired respect for what went on there. Members should be confident of how this is being handled.
We all agreed that it would be very irresponsible to announce or reveal the names of those who were "conditionally" matched until the participants have their chance to deliberate and accept these conditional matches. After the promised 40-days to discuss and deliberate their decisions, I am sure the final matches will be announced publicly, or as couples make their decisions.
I wish I could tell you more, but not for now. I will be talking to many of you this week concerning the upcoming speaking tour of the True Family here in Denver and I will look forward to seeing you all again this weekend or before.
