The Words of the Hernandez Family |
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Please accept my sincerest greetings to you all and your families as we enter this new year of 2009. We are richly blessed people, are we not, to have lived this overflowing, extraordinary life with the True Teacher, True Owner and True King and Queen -- our beloved True Parents.
At the midnight prayer, our Father wrote the year's motto, which is still undergoing translation. The gist of it is that we have entered the Time for Proclaiming the Victory of the things which only True Parents mastered and have firmly established over 3 generations: Absolute Sexual Ethics, True Love, True Life, and True Lineage. True Parents, who have done so at the risk of their lives for the sake of God and humanity, should now be welcomed to rest in a realm of Cosmic Sabbath.
I'd like to share my heart with you, as today is January 13, 2009. Wow, we are exactly 4 years from the date on which, True Parents have staked their absolute devotion and reputations to raise a nation as Cheon Il Guk. Have I staked myself on the victory of January 13, 2013?
True Father repeatedly has taught us that God has all the knowledge he needs and power he needs, but has lacked only one thing -- true love. In the newest series of DP education given in Hawaii and Korea, Father has stressed that shimjung is the center of the Principle. God's Shimjung is the irrepressible impulse to love without condition. The very core of God is His Shimjung - the very cause for His Being and for His having created His beloved objects of love -- us, His children.
Somewhere along our paths of 20, 30, 40 years or so, on such a bitter and embattled way, though we possess extraordinary faith, we must admit we have little fruit in the way of true spontaneous, unimpeded love. We grew tired, relied on religion and on looking busy. We set limits and conditions on loving, even our spouse, children, others and self. Yes, we have much to be grateful for, but we've come awfully close to losing it all many times, were it not for True Parents' unfailing grace.
Brothers and sisters, I say this of myself as much as you. Where is my irrepressible joy, my exuberant happiness just for being a member of this most lovely Family? Where is my gushing heart and unstoppable will to awaken more brothers and sisters and bring them home? Isn't shimjung the impulse to love without expecting anything in return? Haven't I repeatedly vowed to bring about a world of shimjung culture, to embody True Parents' love and bless my community? To bring that about, let us start a revolution today, (as our Father always has and still does) by setting personal conditions of devotion to accelerate and spur growth within our spirit, to arouse hope and substance within ourselves, to achieve unity of mind and body. What form will your unified effort take? Motivationally, it has to transcend what didn't work before: duty, shame or fear. Arise like a phoenix of love.
Mind and body unite for the sake of loving beyond self. Shimjung is now, not someday or maybe tomorrow. It is an indefatigable choice to actualize love now in patience, kindness, respect, and service to our spouses; unlock all the portals of parental love now toward our children; whole-heartedly and gratefully now attend our Parents; and express humility and compassion now toward our elder and younger brothers and sisters without whom we probably wouldn't be here.
Next, let us reach out to people we meet and know in everyday situations, yet, who represent all the men, women and children of our world. It is to save them that True Parents have been toiling with their very tears, sweat and precious blood. The world has hungered for that love in self-destructive, devastating ways, not knowing what it looked like.
Practically speaking now is the time to set a new resolve -- personally, then as a couple, family and community. Ultimately, though, it all hinges upon my new resolve, my revolution, my unity of conscience and action centering upon shimjung. Let me grow myself and my Family through my renewed sense of personal responsibility and accountability. Then, I really am a contributor to the victory of CIG.
Let us then practice this love in our small familial groups and create a safe harbor of healing and reviving love to invite others into. We all need a trusting place to grow in shimjung and practice the virtues seen in persons of true character, becoming even more so, such persons. Let us magnetically attract others like, True Parents say, the nectar attracts the bees -- organically, naturally, joyfully.
You and I have a wellspring within, placed there by our Father-Mother God, and patiently brought forth by True Parents. Don't you feel inside your being an immense original desire? You and I must plumb and unplug our heart, so that we gush and surge again with renewed shimjung, as vigorous and constant as a geyser of life. In this way we are the authors of our legacies and of how many lives we shall have been a blessing to. Let us catch this transformative moment.
As we look out upon these next 4 years, let us unleash our irrepressible filial passion and creativity to give joy and Sabbath to God and our True Parents, so that on January 13, 2013 we all hold our heads high, with tears of joy streaming down our shining faces, all of us one family and the first cosmic nation of peace under God. Aju.
Your Brother,
Mark
