The Words of the Hinterleitner Family |
Tallinn, Estonia -- UPF Estonia hosted a UN International Day of Peace event in our Peace Embassy, with about 30 people in attendance. Three presentations were given:
Peace Topics in the Bible -- by Roland Rand
How Estonia could contribute to the promotion of Peace -- by Ilvi Jõe-Cannon
UPF's Contribution to the Peace Building Process -- by Johann Hinterleitner
The third presentation emphasized the dedicated efforts of UPF Founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon towards the establishment of an inter-religious council within the United Nations.
The program closed with two beautiful songs, offered by a professional opera singer of the Tallinn Opera House.
Participants shared their thoughts about peace while enjoying some refreshments.
Another event took place in a school in the Estonian countryside. UPF volunteer Niina Sinilova, who began to work in the Rakke Gymnasium as an English language teacher at the beginning of September, arranged a simple yet well-appreciated program with the school's director.
Here is her report:
Rakke High school students gathered during their break time to mark the International Day of Peace. The students were shown a presentation that introduced the background of the day. This was followed by a short film about peace, made by an independent journalist. The event ended by lighting a candle of peace accompanied by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon, which stirred people's emotions and added significance to this day.
