Testimonies about GOP (General Orientation Program in Korea)

E. Iversen
March, 2003

Im E. Iversen, from Ireland. Im 13 years old and came to GOP in 2002. Im still going through GOP but so far, its been a great experience! I remember the first day that my mom ever mentioning GOP to me. She was talking on the phone, about me and Korea, and when she finished she asked me, "Do you want to go to Korea? Well, thats not exactly what she said, but that was the main question! So, I said, "Korea? Ummmm Ek and I started going around telling everybody, I thought that would be the end of it, and I couldnt actually imagine going. But, then my mom started to get forms that I had to fill in, and an essay I had to write. I started to get excited and would read the schedule every day. But when I left on the plane with my mom, I couldnt actually believe I was going.

It seemed to me like a dream. It was a long plane ride, but when we landed, we followed the directions that they had given us. But we got a bit lost, but we found it in the end. When we arrived at the dorm, I couldnt believe that this was the place I was going to stay. I settled in and went to sleep. That was the start of GOP 02-03! GOP is great! Its totally different than anything else! Its a place where you can really learn how to become one of Gods children.

There are a lot more Americans than Europeans but you all get along fine. Youre all brothers and sisters. You go out of the field trips every month and theyre really fun. There are a lot of mountains, and you usually climb them! But you do other things, and take photos for memories.

In your spare time, you can go and explore Korea. And with the Korean you learn, you can talk to Korean people. There are a lot of places where you can go over and over again and still have a good time!

But GOP is so much more than just fun. You go to school and have the usual subjects, but Korean is the main subject. The teachers will be nice if you are nice to them! There are tests and exams, where you study really hard. The dorm is 2 minutes away from the school so its not that hard to get to school on time! There are a lot of spiritual activities happening too. Every weekdays theres an evening service with different topics; testimony night, DP lecture night, Game night, etc:

They really encourage you to do conditions here and you can always see the result. Well, thats all I can really say, you should come and have your own view of GOP. I might come back for second year so I might see you! I hope you come and experience this chance of a lifetime,

Thank You! E. Iversen
