Dear Family,

The General Orientation Program - (on the campus of the Sun Hwa school - Little Angels School) is for Western students who would like to have an excellent experience with the Korean culture while studying the Korean language while continuing education of general studies (math, english etc.) The deadline for applications is March 31, 2004. We wanted to underscore this because a large number of the mothers of the FFWPU will be going to Chung Pyung in March for a special program. PLEASE APPLY NOW. The potential for your child to attend this time is quite good. Below is the letter from FFWPU V.P. Mrs. Alexa Ward who is the Family Federation representative overseeing the program on behalf of North American FFWPU. Information concerning the program and the application process is clarified below. Also, this information is availiable on the Familyfed.org website. We highly recommend this program for families who would like to give their children a good foundation in the Korean language and a healthy bonding experience with brothers and sisters in the Unification tradition of our True Parents.

Love,

MWJ

Dear Parents of Prospective GOP Students,

Thank you for your interest in having your child attend the General Orientation Program (GOP) in Seoul, South Korea for the school year 2004 – 2005. GOP is the name of the first year program of the Institute of Korean Studies for Foreign Students. The program consists of a dormitory called the World Student Garden of Brothers and Sisters, which is on the campus of the Sun Hwa School. The classrooms used by the GOP program are located in the Sun Hwa School. The Director of the Institute is Rev. Young Hwi Lee. The Western Program Director for the western students is Henry and Katsuko Christopher.

This program gives Blessed children of Unification families the precious opportunity to spend at least one year in Korea. They live in a dormitory with other western students, and share the facility with students from Japan. They are introduced to Korean language, grammar, and culture. They keep up with most of their western subjects as well. They experience the heart of Koreans through the teachers and staff, as well as on exciting and fun school trips. They deepen their identity as Blessed children and make lifelong friendships. They experience Unification culture and traditions in the Fatherland and begin to develop their own life of faith.

Applications are now being accepted for the school year beginning in September 2004 for those Blessed children who will be between 12 and 13 years of age, entering seventh or eighth grades, on September 1st, 2004, (born in 1990 or 1991). You will find that the entire application process is online.

Please go to the section entitled Overview of the Application Process for an overview as well as for instructions for completing the application process. Please complete the application process by March 31, 2004. There will be a $35.00 nonrefundable application fee in order to process your application. Please pay special attention to the section on Tuition for next year.

On the application website, you will find reflections from several of this year’s GOP students, as well as an example of the monthly E-newsletter. We hope these items will help you to better understand the GOP program.

If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Herbers or myself. We prefer to be reached by email.

With best wishes, ITPN,
Alexa Ward, FFWPU, USA Representative
