The Decision to Participate in the Million Family March

I was one of about 250 people at North Garden (Kodiak, Alaska) eight days ago who listened to Rev. Yang give a 2-hour report on the developments of the Million Family March. This report was in front of True Parents and about 90% of the 250 were Koreans and Japanese. Rev. Yang spoke in Korean the entire time, so Father knew exactly what Rev. Yang was saying. True Father obviously had ample opportunity during these two hours to ask questions, change direction, stop the whole report, or whatever else he wanted to do. But he did not.

Essentially, Rev. Yang was explaining the significance of a major religious figure, Minister Farrakhan, _possibly_ coming to attend True Parents (and, I would add editorially, that this is in a way that Christian leaders should be doing). Minister Farrakhan apparently has taken a humble position before True Parents, an objective position. We must remember that Minister Farrakhan commands a very large following, some several million in America, as well as considerable support outside the U.S. The key point of the MFM is that it _may well_ become the first time a major religious figure has invited True Parents to come a give the Blessing to members of the religious leader's flock. It would be the equivalent of Billy Graham inviting True Parents to give the Blessing to those who attend Rev. Graham's crusades.

If it was Billy Graham holding the MFM instead of Louis Farrakhan all of us here would be shedding tears of joy and lining up to help out. But because it is a controversial "Cain-type" religious figure, it makes us somewhat uncomfortable. I am sure, with all the investment that Father has made and continues to make to the Christian world, that True Parents would dearly love it if Billy Graham or Jerry Falwell or Pope John Paul or some other Jewish or Christian leader would invite True Parents to give the Blessing at their gatherings, but the sad fact is that they have not. I am sure if any of these Christians were to do this, none of us in America would hesitate to run anywhere to assist.

God's providence follows a time-table. We see that clearly in the Bible. We do not control that time-table. Not even Father does. Father must follow that time-table, too. Father cannot wait forever for Christians to respond to him. Father will only live so long on the earth, and setting the foundation for God's Kingdom is necessary during this time. He cannot leave this to future uncertainty. Father must act while he can. The Bible indicates this. If Father has chosen to accept Minister Farrakhan's invitation, and if that invitation is truly to fulfill God's will of blessing millions of families, then we should embrace this with at least as much fervor as our own Blessings.

Let's be honest: who among us really deserves the Blessing? None of us is truly qualified, yet True Parents gave us Their Blessing and invited us into Their Family for all of eternity. If Minister Farrakhan truly objectifies himself to True Parents, then True Parents have no choice but to attend and give Their Blessing to this Million Family March. And if True Parents ask us to join Them, this is an enormous honor we will understand only in the future, as it is with most things of faith.
