Mr.
Kamiyama was very serious as he explained that now is the time for
America to serve the world
America was the only nation raised by God in such a short period -- a two hundred year span. In America there are so many races coming together to make one nation. Also, America served in both world wars, and afterwards served as a military police force to watch the world situation. Through serving the world, America received God's blessing. But after World War II, this nation started to decline, culminating in the Vietnam War experience. America began to retreat from the world situation, and descended into the difficult situation we see today. Now America is drawn more into domestic affairs, centering on myself, my family, my state, or my country, but not the whole world. America has become too individualistic and therefore lost the blessing of Heaven. We American Unification Church members must turn this current.
Through hearing Father speak in Alaska recently, I can tell that Father wants to revive this country and its role to serve the world providence. Through this pioneering condition Father is asking America to do something for the sake of the world. This 40-days pioneering must be taken by members to mean that we are truly representing this nation, carrying it on our shoulders. In Alaska, Father said he has been investing so much energy in America and the movement here, yet he cannot see anything really responding to it, so he feels very discouraged. Furthermore, he said if he had poured the same energy or resources into South America, it might have created a better result. Yet one thing is clear, that Heaven nurtured and expects America to work for the will of the Providence, and that is why Father has continuously worked until now in America.
So through this world pioneering America can do something for the sake of the world and therefore save itself. You pioneers need to feel strongly in your guts that you want to serve the world on behalf of your country. We have been receiving the living teaching of true love from True Parents for so many years, right? Now is the time for us to go out to the field and see if we can exercise true love. What is true love? It involves sacrificing the individual, family, or even the nation for the sake of the whole world.
Some people are saying that 40 days is almost like a vacation. The heavenly expectation is far from that. Some of you might be thinking of doing business research. Truly, I don't think that is the spirit you should go with. True Parents have proclaimed true Parentism to the world. Therefore, our position is to follow the standard Father has set -- proclaiming or teaching about the existence of True Parents to the world. I recently saw a young Christian man on the street preaching repentance because Jesus is coming. Well, True Parents are now on the earth with us, so we must proclaim it with even greater fervor.
Father recently explained the providential timetable to several leaders. From 1962 to 1981 was the formation stage of the 21-year course. Then from 1981 until 2000 is the growth stage of the 21-year course. Finally, from the year 2000 will be the third millennium -- the completion era of this 21-year course and the absolute era of True Parents centered on Unificationism. Father will be reaching 80 then so with the greatest confidence he proclaimed that all the problems of the world should be completely solved by this time, and the Heavenly Era will be launched.
Until recently, Father was working on restoration of the elder son's birthright. Next was the restoration of true parenthood. Concurrently was the restoration of sovereignty, or kingship. Father said that through these conditions all the historical conditions lost to Satan are being brought back into God's hands. Conditionally, it is done, in Heaven. But here on earth, the victory has to be substantially realized. True Parentship has to be externally welcomed by the world.
Therefore Father started proclaiming true Parentship during this past year. So we now must proclaim that True Parents are on the earth and guide the people to know True Parents. Therefore, when you go out pioneering, you must have a clear, purposeful goal. You must think: "Without me, there is no salvation for the people of my country. Without me, there is no way for them to reach the path of True Parents." We have a very serious responsibility to give life and bring people back to True Parents -- like John the Baptist.
We may not feel the emergency of this providential time, yet this is very clearly happening in the spiritual world. We have to catch this spirit, seriously recognize our mission, and then to go out and digest this 40 day's pioneering.
Our first task as Abel to our nation is to be purified beings. To win the victory to the point where Father could proclaim true Parentism to the world, Father had to undergo a course of tremendous suffering and lots of indemnity -- the vertical and horizontal course. The horizontal course starts from the individual level, to family, tribal, racial, national, world, cosmic, and then to God. The vertical course starts from the servant of servants position, to servant, adopted son, stepson, true son, to the mother, to the father, and to God.
Our mission is to follow True Parents' path, so we must dedicate for the sake of the world. But for those who are going to this public mission, are we truly public persons? If we have a very individual, selfish purpose and spirit, then even if we go to a national level mission and suffer we may not be able to give anything back to Heaven. If you go to some foreign country but are only thinking about your children or spouse most of the time, this is not the purpose for you going out. If each day you are counting down to the end of the 40 days, to returning to your family, you cannot make an offering.
Let's say on the last day you become so restless and want to make sure that you will not miss the plane, so you get to the airport very early. Father's words from his speech on 7-day fasting say that the last minute of the fast is very serious. You should not think about the food that you will be able to partake of but should be thinking about partaking of the love of God.
We should go the very sacrificial unselfish way. Instead of being concerned about the well-being of our own family, we need to pray for the well-being and victory of our pioneering city.
When we go into this kind of new mission, many obstacles will come up, so we had better compose and dedicate our spirits as we prepare to go. Father has shared with us how to gain victory. Victory is not decided while you are working on a project, but rather at the very beginning point. Your guts, determination, and sacrificial spirit as you begin will determine the standard of what you are going to achieve. One Wonhwa-do teacher once told me that whether he can break a concrete wall or object is very much decided in his mind. If he is unsure -- "I will just try" -- it doesn't work. The success of this mission is going to be decided by our initial attitude. You had better start building up your prayer for your city now, so you will have a very effective visit.
Therefore, my objective today is for you to make a very clear commitment to go! Many of you have children, so what shall you do? If your spouse is going away leaving you with 3 or 4 children, can you handle this?
This event is history making and will provide you with great stories to tell to your posterity. Do you want to be just a regular parent? No! Recently, quite a few people came to ask me about my 40 day pioneering experience. I went pioneering for 40 days right after I completed my first 21-day workshop in the church. I was pretty prepared, but something was pulling me back from going. Then, the Bible verse came to me: "Once you put your hand on the plow but turn back, you are not worthy of the Kingdom of God." So I pushed myself to go. I had a one-way bus fare. My first pioneer area was in the northern part of Hokkaido Island, in the wintertime, so I had to wrap newspapers around my hands to survive. I will never forget. Later, I went to several other pioneer areas in the summertime. Of course, there was just a one-way ticket and no money. Those became good memories for me. My sacrifice became a foundation for the churches in those cities, so today I feel proud and happy. Through your loving sacrifice, your 40 days will become a foundation for the church in your area.
So the first mission of Abel is to separate from Satan and become purified. You must understand the mission of Abel clearly, since you are going as the Abel figure to your region. Within and without, you must be separated from Satan, divided between good and evil, and then make yourself an offering of goodness, sacrificing your desires for the sake of the whole. A true religion has to sacrifice the individual, family, and even national level for the sake of the world.
Let us expand on this point of being a living sacrifice. What if something bad happens to your family while you are in your pioneering country? What shall you do? Make a clear strategy before you even start, because this kind of thing happens all of the time. You can be sure that as you make this total, saint of saints' sacrifice on behalf of True Parents, as you arrive at that nation some judgment is going to take place right away. That is the principle viewpoint. Restoration through indemnity can happen only through dividing good and evil. Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, don't seek what to eat, drink or wear first. So when we are standing in that position of offering with a clear spirit, the judgment takes place.
As an example of this, on August 31, 1989, Father established the Pal Chong Shik Ceremony, which means Settlement of Eight Stages. After True Parents accomplished the eight stages of vertical and horizontal indemnity over the last 43 years, Father could proclaim Heavenly Fatherism, Parentism, and kingship. After that, what happened? Didn't you see the heavenly world growing and the satanic world being divided? A few months after this ceremony the Berlin Wall came down and Russia embraced Father. Father has very clear heavenly confidence that through those conditions, he divided good and evil, causing the world to change.
So when we can pure-heartedly believe in and unite with Father, we can receive Father's victorious foundation.
When we acquire Father's spiritual standard, our spirit lives with God. Then, as a heavenly sacrificial lamb, if the Cain world strikes you, that creates a good effect on the heavenly side. If Satan, through Cain, is hitting you, then the more you are hit, the more payment Satan has to pay. So when you go out you must create an impact to the Cain world, and divide it for God's providence. You must first establish a very high, good standard so that your work and sweat will not be in vain.
After dividing yourself, your second mission as Abel to liberate Cain. Our goal is usually to bring 3 spiritual children during a 40-day period. They are your seeds. If you plant those seeds, then a few years later they can grow up to become the leadership of that particular country. Therefore you had better leave with the confidence that you are going to find those three pillars for your pioneering city. Forty days is enough time to find people who can become heavenly connections to bring others to True Parents. You save C tin by pouring lots of loving, sincere efforts to save him.
Your third mission as Abel is to take the birthright from Cain; without earning that birthright first, you may not be able to proclaim true Parentship. So, through serving and dedicating yourself to your spiritual children you must move their hearts to the heavenly side. We have a very beautiful example through Father's course in Danbury. I stayed in Danbury with Father for 4 months and 17 days; within that period I saw Western, American men bowing down to True Parents even without having heard a Divine Principle workshop. They would wake up at 3 o'clock and do pledge with True Father. Let us remember Father's carrying the cross at Danbury, and copy that into our own behavior. Surely you will meet better prepared people than in Danbury prison in your country. Those prisoners were at the bottom of hell, but Father loved them and turned them around.
Our tradition in 40 days is to first of all go up to a high place, like a mountain, and offer a very serious prayer, asking for God's guidance to meet the prepared people.
The final mission of Abel is how you digest the Cain world. Abel must endure to the end any persecution coming from Cain, the enemy, and not only endure, but digest it with love and forgiveness.
These are the missions of Abel that we must take to our areas. Then, day by day, we will digest our situation well. Shall we do that? Someone was talking about a world peace corps, but this is way beyond that; it is a heavenly movement. If you establish this foundation of serving the world, day by day, not just giving external material things, but especially the spirit of True Parents and the Divine Principle, something is going to happen. America is going to restore her spiritual fortune, don't you think?
So let us make this 40-day world pioneering condition a very historical, unforgettable one. Serve well, dedicate well, and sacrifice well for the sake of the world. The Pope bends down and kisses the land when he visits a country. He is a good example, but we should do more than he does.
So go with confidence that you are standing on behalf of True Parents. Shall we carry out this 40-day period in a precious historical way, or an easygoing way? Father is praying for us; his mind is absolutely clear that American brothers and sisters are going. Every department gave difficult, realistic situations to Father about why these 40 days shouldn't be now, but Father rejected everything. So don't question it, because this is the condition Father set for saving America and the world.
When I came to America, I left my wife and young daughter behind in Japan. It was so painful, but I overcame. I was so busy here that I didn't do anything for my own blessed family, not even writing a letter for 3 years. Now I can talk about it a little bit, because I did it. So you need to collect a lot of story- making events to share with your posterity. It will be a deep pleasure to hear your tearful testimonies and see your super-alive spirits when you return.
