Memo from Rev. In Hoi Lee
March 18, 2003
Dear brothers and sisters, owners of CIG,
Last night President Bush declared an ultimatum. Saddam Hussein and his sons must leave Iraq within 48 hours.
On my way home after the metro financial committee meeting, I felt that we are all in the midst of a historic turning point. It appears that war with Iraq is now unavoidable. We can expect, as a result, many changes in the existing order of things in the world. I pray that those changes can move the world closer to God's will and purpose.
As you know, I am not an absolute pacifist. However, my prayer has always been that war would no longer be necessary in the world. I am disheartened that the clash of civilizations seems to always result in war. It reminds me that we must do our job more effectively. In our modern world such wars will affect our lives and our children's lives economically, politically and culturally. There is always a peaceful alternative to resolve the world's problems. However, in this case, it appears that time is running out for that option.
Of course, we don't know yet what Father may be thinking in view of this present situation or what God expects. Let us pray that God can intervene in the last moment and make a war unnecessary.
In the meantime, as we turn this new page in the destiny of the world, I feel we need to support President Bush, his administration and America so that if a war happens it can be carried out and concluded as quickly as possible with little causality on both sides.
Last year during the sniper incident, the police surrounded the snipers with overwhelming force and they peacefully gave up. I hope that the battle with Saddam will go in a similar way. I hope that the nation of Iraq can quickly recover with America's support and look forward to a brighter future without Saddam Hussein.
In this defining moment, I wish there was something more that we could do. Therefore we must exercise our most important weapon. That is, the new empowerment that is bequeathed to the owners of Cheon Il Guk. I would like to ask you to join in prayer as an owner and citizen of Cheon Il Guk beyond all national identities:
1) Pray that the war can finish as quickly as possible and that America can do God's will for the world.
2) Pray for the leadership that they make the right decision at the right time.
3) Pray for the Korean situation that is becoming more serious and might be the next big issue after the war.
God Bless You! In the name of True Parents,
Rev. In Hoi Lee
