Dear Rev. Kim and Rev. Thompson,
We write to congratulate you Rev. Kim, Rev. Thompson, the Oakland area family members as well as the Ambassadors for Peace for supporting the historic "Walk Across America – A Prayer for Peace and Reconciliation". We understand that to connect with the spirit of this walk Family Church members, ACLC Clergy and Ambassadors for Peace will join symbolically in part of the walk to launch this initiative. We also appreciate the fact that Rev. Eu in Japan and Mrs. Erikawa are giving great encouragement for this historic inspiration to bring peace and reconciliation for all races and peoples, for this we offer our thanks.
This "Walk For Peace" conducted by Mr. Matsuo Machida beginning on June 1, 2004 is a historic journey. It will call upon all people of faith and conscience in America to join hands and hearts together to walk in unity with all races, religions and cultures calling upon all families to realize Peace in America, the Middle East and all troubled areas of the world.
We are deeply inspired that Mr. Machida has come to America to call upon this great nation to come together, as it did in past times of world crisis, to bring about a new vision of hope for all humanity. As the Founding Father’s of this nation prayed to God, the Ambassadors for Peace and Clergy across this nation will pray to that same God, that the founding spirit brought forth by the Declaration of Independence will bring a renewal of love and respect for Muslims, Christians and Jews as well as all faiths and races. It reads, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Repeating this founding truth in his ministry, the soul of America was moved when the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. inspired repentance and unity among all people. He taught, based upon this "Declaration", that America is unique among all nations, for it stands upon the foundational Biblical principle that we are created equal - Black, White, Brown, Hispanic, Indian , Asian – and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights. Dr. King called upon America with its great spirit and spiritual foundation to secure these rights for all Americans. Now, Father and Mother Moon are calling upon America to secure these rights for the whole world. From every family to every nation - to the whole world. That is why Mr. Machida has the power to "Walk For Peace".
Therefore "We Hold These Truths" will shine in California where this great trek across the land of America begins. "We Hold These Truths" will shine from sea to Shining Sea – from San Francisco to New York will be done with all of the people of faith and conscience. Thus through this "Walk For Peace" it is our hope that the founding spirit instilled by God in this nation will now be renewed and spread to the whole world.
As Americans we realize that there are many things about America that need correction for this nation to realize her true destiny as the peaceful leader of the world. Immorality and family breakdown to the still lingering discrimination toward race and religion within and without call for the renewal of this nation. These things are not reflective of the true spirit of America. At this time, with so much immorality and war, a spirit of repentance and renewal must be pleasing in the sight of God. Therefore the spirit Mr. Machida brings is one that American’s love. He will be welcomed in each major city across America by these Ambassadors for Peace. We expect a great outpouring of people of faith to support this quest on his historic journey.
What is particular stirring about Mr. Machida’s walk is that he how he is initiating a spirit of repentance starting from his own nation. He is following the theme song of "Let There Be Peace On Earth" in which is says "… and let it begin with me." As a man from Japan, a former enemy of America, he is coming to say, "…Let Peace Begin with Me !!!" He brings an apology to America for Pearl Harbor and for what Japan did in Korea and China and other nations of the world. He brings an apology and repentance. What could be more fitting for MEMORIAL DAY, the day we honor our soldiers who died upholding the vision of God for America. However, as we honor our veterans we are reminded of that fact that they, more than anyone else, are longing for the day in which all the gun’s will fall silent. For the this to happen forgiveness and love must fill our hearts.
The Ambassadors for Peace are inspired and have received this spirit of repentance and apology and say now – we FORGIVE!" With this heart the American Ambassadors for Peace are responding no "We cannot only forgive for we have also missed the mark, we too must repent – then we can call upon all people to repent to God for our short comings and to forgive one another. America must change to truly be the source of love and unity for a world of peace."
Thus many are saying that at is was with Gandhi, so it is with Father Moon, as it was with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – so it is with Father Moon. As they fought for Peace and Equality they suffered. Gandhi and Dr. King went to jail – so did Father Moon. But their prisons became their prayer rooms from which – prayers were offered for all humanity even those that imprisoned them. With this spirit in each instance the jail doors opened and the work of peace expanded. From Great Britain and India, to Selma and Montgomery. From Moscow to Pyeong Yang, from Rafah to Rwanda the work and mission of peace is flowing like a mighty river. Now from San Francisco to New York and from the Middle East to the Far East the cry for peace is resounding.
The Ambassadors for Peace are taking this message of love, repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation to every race and people – to every corner of the world. We see a day in the near future where our "Walk For Peace" will grow until black, white, brown, Asian – Muslim, Christian, Buddhist and Jew will join hands together and walk across the all the barriers of the world, from Gaza to Jerusalem, from the 38th Parallel in Korea, joining the south to the north. "Not by might, not by power, but by my spirit sayeth the lord."
This "Walk for Peace" is stirring the soul of America to live out the scriptures upon which the greatness of this nation was founded. The "Walk For Peace" is calling on all Americans to humble themselves and turn to God responding to the call of II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." It is our prayer that this "Walk for Peace" will turn our hearts toward heaven and allow America to lead the world out of war into the realm of Peace. We believe that it will only be through America that Isaiah’s prophesy will be realized. Isaiah 2:4 "…. and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." We this walk for Peace – we will begin the era in which America can lead the world in singing the hymn, "Down By the Riverside", in which we proclaim, "We Ain’t Gonna Study War No More."
We are with you Mr. Machida – together with this faith we will "Walk for Peace, and Pray for Peace", with this faith we will "Cry for Peace and Sing for Peace" and eventually with this faith we will "March with Peace" and Peace shall be realized for all of God’s children.

We call upon all people of conscience and faith to stand together and affirm the call of the Lord to bring the Peace Kingdom to all humanity.
Our True Parents, Father and Mother Moon, have offered their sincere prayer and blessing for this effort by Mr. Machida and all Ambassadors for Peace. They pray that a new birth of American greatness will rise in faith to heal the world.
Yesterday on the fourth An Shi Il (Age of Settlement and Attendance), True Parents proclaimed the end of the era of Cain and Abel meaning that the unity between the brothers will be rapidly realized as the younger and older brother repent together and become one in heart. The gates of the Kingdom are now open. There is no barrier to prevent us from achieving our "dream" of a world of peace. Father has proclaimed that this is the age in which all enemy nations will come together. This is the time in which peace will be realized. We are now taking that step in faith as we "Walk Across America".
Glory to God and all that love the Lord and Long For Peace.
