Georgia Welcomes the Week of Family Values

Tbilisi, Georgia -- The Week of Family Values was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, November 4-13. Programs took place at High School No. 136 in Tbilisi, the Georgia Ombudsman's office, and the Foundation for the Development of Human Resources.

Vitaly Maximov, head of UPF-Georgia, gave lectures to students in grades 5 through 10 and their parents. About 100 children were involved in various events. Among other things, they participated in a family portrait contest. The older students attended the program on the "Family as a School of Love." For the younger students, Vitaly gave his presentation on "Her Highness Mrs. Family." In his program he touched the following subjects: character development as the major aspect in preparation for marriage, family values, and the family's important role in children's education.

Vitaly Maximov and Konstantin Krylov, Secretary General of UPF-Russia, held a meeting of Young Peace Ambassadors, representatives of various youth NGOs. As a part of the Week of Family Values, they gave their presentation on "Solving Moral Confusion" and practical training in listening skills.

On November 8, Konstantin Krylov met Mr. Beka Mindeashvili, head of the Inter-religious Department at the Administration of the Georgian Ombudsman. They discussed religious pluralism and the idea of inter-religious consensus in Georgia and the South Caucasus. On the same day, UPF representatives attended a monthly meeting of the Inter-religious Council of Georgia for leaders of all faith traditions of Georgia. The event was hosted by the Office of the Georgian Ombudsman. The participants discussed preparations of Georgian religious community for the International Day of Tolerance, November 16.

On November 9, UPF-Georgia held a meeting of the Georgian Peace Council of Ambassadors for Peace as part of the Week of Family Values. Nodar Sarjveladze, head of the Foundation for Development of Human Resources, hosted the program at his Center. Konstantin Krylov gave a presentation on "UPF Blessing for Peace" and informed Ambassadors for Peace about recent projects of Dr. Sun Myung Moon, founder of UPF. The Head of the Georgian Peace Council, Mrs. Dalila Khorava, and other participants of the event, proposed to invite the UPF leaders to the celebration of the International Day of Families that UPF Georgia plans to hold in Tbilisi in partnership with UN Office in Georgia.
