What do "the Moonies," a term members of the unification church of Rev. Sun Myung Moon consider a slur, believe about how God relates to humankind?
Taking into account that God gave the first human ancestors his commandment in Genesis 2:17, it would seem that humankind is created to respond to God by keeping the commandment. Human beings were originally meant to keep a perfect give and take relationship with God as their Divine Parent. A person becomes a perfect object of God when he or she resembles the perfection of God and incarnates God's character as mentioned in Matthew Chapter 5 verse 48.. In that case, God can then become the center of this person's thinking, behavior, conscience and life.
If the Adam and Eve had established a perfected vertical relationship with God from the begriming, their descendants would also have been able to maintain perfect relationship with Him. With this perfect vertical relationship established, all human beings would also have been able to create harmonious relationships with each other, thus realizing the Kingdom of God on Earth. But the fall of Adam and Eve, the first human ancestors, caused this vertical relationship with God to be cut off. Therefore each individual since then has been unable to maintain a harmonious vertical relationship with God and with his or her fellow human beings.
The Messiah is God's Son and becomes one with God through having this complete vertical relationship in oneness with God. Fallen people should live a total life of faith and connect with the Messiah as their central figure. A fallen person would then become the object who will serve the Messiah completely. The Messiah is his mediator with God, and so can thereby restore his perfect vertical relationship with God. Jesus is therefore called the "mediator" (in 1st Timothy 2:5 and "'...the way, and the truth, and the life...'" in John 14:6.
"The Moonies" are indeed Christians, although many have attacked the teaching of Rev. Moon as un-Christian. In fact,:The Moonies" may be the most vertically connected Christians.
