What do "the Moonies," the followers of Rev. Sun Myung Moon -- who are affronted by that term as a slur -- actually think about God?
Every existing being was created by God and is his relational object, i.e., each is the visible and substantial realization and form of the dual characteristics of the Creator, who exists as the invisible origin. When a created being becomes an object, in perfect unity, to God as the subject, then the God's Will will be fully realized. Another way of seeing this is that the created world is like one perfect harmonious body - which moves or remains stationary only in accordance to God's Purpose of Creation.
All beings reflect God's dual characteristics, nevertheless, they can be classified into two categories: A) human beings, and B) all other beings. Humankind is created as the IMAGE of God while other things are symbolic representations of God and are thus called "symbolic substantial objects of God."
Summing up the relationship between God and the Creation, the Creation in total is God's substantial object, as a symbolic representation and Humankind is God's substantial object in image form.
God is the invisible, internal masculine cause to Creation; the Creation is the visible, external result; the feminine object of God.
God relates to this creations as His object of love. His motivation for creation was in order to have an object of His love. True love, the essence of God, cannot be fully realized without an object. Much as a human being cannot find fulfillment in love without an object of his / her love, even God must have an object of His love!
Throughout the centuries, people have related to God as the almighty power, far above the daily activities of human beings. Rev. Sun Myung Moon who has taught "the Moonies" for over 70 years, has revealed new insight into God. Not only does He need humans, in fact, we were created to be his objects of love. This brings the Creator down to earth, so we can easily understand His Heart. As Jesus taught, He is a Parent of love who longs for his children.
