The Words of the Taira Family |
Dear brothers and sisters,
Our brother Hirofumi passed away on November 20, he had a heart attack. The Seunghwa ceremony was held on November 28. The ceremony was well attended and he had a wonderful send off. On February 12, 1953 Taira san started his life journey, He was born in Miyakojima city of Okinawa, Japan. A beautiful island that he was proud of and loved much. In his family he was the third son of six children. Growing up he spent much time in the nature always climbing trees.
When Taira san was just 16 years old he left his hometown for the big city of Tokyo, following his dream of becoming a chef. As a young man he found a passion in cooking and discovering how different foods affected a person's health and well being.
At 26 years old Taira san met a member of the Unification Church in front of the Ikebukuro train station in Tokyo. After hearing the Principle he decided to join the cooking staff at the Ishin Hospital. At the hospital he was able to continue his interests in food and health by cooking for cancer patients and others who were ill.
When Taira was 33 years old he decided to move to America to work with the Japanese restaurants and help support the business side of the providence. His first job in the US was in Cleveland, Ohio where he was a chef.
At 39 years old, in 1992 Taira was blessed with Yumiko Inagaki along with 6000 other couples in a big church wedding. In 1994 he and Yumiko welcomed their first daughter Motoka and three years later they were blessed another beautiful girl Yoshika.
Other than a few trips to Japan for health reasons most of Taira sans life was invested in Ohio and Michigan, helping the American providence where he played an important role in helping different business's develop and grow. He joined Pacific Food in 2006 and he and his family have been a part of the Columbus family from then to today.
Taira san was always thinking about harmony of the mind and body and harmony with others. He was always at peace and disliked conflict. He loved helping others and rarely said no when asked to help. These qualities made him a reliable friend and co-worker. Taira san was a hard worker and was loved by everyone in each restaurant he worked. He is not only a man of good character, but one of high skill in his work.
He will be missed by us all.
