The Words of the Tayoan Family |
Bucay, Abra -- The Unification Movement Cordillera Chapter reached the heart of Brgy. Patoc, Municipality of Bucay. It was an hour ride from Bangued. Doctors, nurses and therapists and volunteer staffs offered their free service to the local citizens on December 12, 2010. The services include: medical, dental, physical therapy and operation haircut. It gives an opportunity to touch our brothers and sisters who longs for medical assistance with free medications distributed to 210 recipients.
It was coordinated by Mr. Rhomen B. Perdon, as assisted by the Unification Movement Cordillera Regional Director Mr. and Mrs. John Gawec. Dental and Medical services was rendered and headed by Dr. Jocelyn Aben-Tipan, the Asian Mobile Medical Service Chairman of Cordillera Chapter.
The barangay captain Mrs. Cristeta Fuentes uttered "It was a great help for the people of our area to receive such blessings from your group." She was very grateful for the coordinator's family for offering a heart-felt service and dedication to her small but beautiful and solemn area of responsibility.
The people were accommodating and full of hope and longing for medical resources to reach them. Each individual manifested fulfillment and satisfaction as young and old queued while waiting for each program offered to them. One young mother even shared her appreciation with watery eyes upon receiving antibiotics and vitamins for her and her three children.
It turns out that reviving the spirit of "bayanihan" is still part of the community. Staffs, participants and recipients boldly and clearly shared a common denominator of service, brotherhood and sense of co-existence.
