The Words of the Thiebault Family |
Philippe and I came to Korea at about the same time and for the same mission. In 1978, True Parents called six brothers from six countries to Korea to do interfaith work here. Philippe came from France and I from the United States. Bernhard... Quandt (now Lee Cham, president of the Korea National Tourism Organization) came from Germany. William Chassaud came from U.K., Ettore Calistri from Italy and Pablo de la Pena from Spain.
The six of us lived together in an apartment in Jamsil for about three years.
That's very interesting information about the six brothers from six countries. Thank you for sharing it. I found this on the internet. I am assuming it is the same Dr. Philippe Thiebault. "The Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch (RAS) always... meets on the 2nd (and 4th) Wednesday of each month, and on June 9th (1999) at 7:30 Dr. Philippe Thiebault -- specialist in Yulgok Yi I (philosophy and writings) -- will present a paper explicating Yulgok's philosophy on the opposite side of downtown Seoul." Yi I (nicknamed Yulgok) philosophy can be found in wikipedia under "Yi I"
Yes, this is definitely him. Philippe taught Korean philosophy to Korean university students, first at Konkuk University and later at Hanyang University. Most recently, he taught Oriental philosphy at Sejong University.
His original publications were:
Confucius et le devenir-homme: Chemins de maturation (2207)
Le Pensee coreenne: Aux sources de l'Espirit-Coeur (2006)
He also translated a number of books from Korean to French.
