The Stuff Dreams are Made Of

October 2007
What are dreams made of? If you asked me this question 3 years ago, I would probably say dreams the things that we conjure in our minds when we go to bed, but have no real bearing on our lives on a day-to-day basis. I would have said it is good to have dreams, but it is dangerous to expect them to come true, because chances are you’ll end with disappointment. But that isn’t my viewpoint anymore.
It would be wrong to say that my idea about dreams has changed because of a single event. I think that God has been working on all of us in many different ways, to mold us into people that could live beyond our dreams. The past three years have been an exciting and tumultuous time for me. I got blessed to my beautiful wife, Joletta, who has always been a blessing to me in the greatest extent of the word. I have also been going to school at a great university, which comes with all sorts of challenges and difficulties.
I’ve had a chance to live in three different states, for periods of months at a time, and meet more people than I’d ever known in my entire life. I’ve also had to cope with the death of my grandmother, who may not be here now but is surely resting in Heaven. It’s easy to be distracted by all that’s been happening, and forget about the big picture. But now that I take a chance to look around, I see a world I have never known before.
I can see that dreams are coming true every day. Even just three short years ago, would you have believed all your new technology would have been severely outdated by now? These days, we have iPhones and Blackjacks that seem to have all the working capability of a home computer right in your pocket! In medicine, we are seeing the production of artificial arms, legs, and even eyes, giving disabled people a renewed hope in the future.
Digital cameras are as thin as a cookie wafer, and can take pictures with precision and resolution that was previously unreachable. With the rate that things are becoming minimized and networked, you can’t help but acknowledge you’re a part of a world community. Networks like Facebook and Friendster have connected people from varying corners of the world into a global family. And in terms of providential history, did you think the possibility of an Abel UN would have been a remote possibility by now? Yet already Father is moving forward with this idea so that it will soon be a reality in our world.
We are living in an amazing time! Whatever your dreams, you are living in a time where they are becoming a reality. Yet many of us choose to run away from the world, afraid of the new developments around us. Instead of embracing the amazing time we live in, many of us are choosing instead to cling to old ideologies and ideas worked well in the past. But we can’t do this anymore! As things are moving towards the fulfillment of Providential History, we cannot stand by the sidelines and watch it go by. We have to get involved.
We need to use the amazing tools that are now at our disposal and spread our message to the world. Never before have we seen the possibility for widespread broadcasting of the Word of God. Imagine what Jesus could have done if he were born at this time. He would have broadcasted his message by television. He would have hundreds of chat rooms and blogs dedicated to spreading his vision. There would not be one spot on the planet where someone would not hear about or be inspired by his message. We have all the technologies that can bring people to God, and we need to use them to the best of our abilities.
If we doubt ourselves now, it cannot come at a worse time. Now is the time we should be the most confident. I have seen amazing changes happening in my own community of Philadelphia. Although the city still in shambles with the spread of crime, drugs, and racism, we are battling back with the hope that things can change.
We are working with many ministers to bring back peace to the streets of Philadelphia through the ACLC. We are reconstructing our church which has fallen into disrepair over the years, in the process of transforming it into a youth center that will be available for all 2nd Gen in our area. And we are going to see that the truth we have is a powerful tool that can fight against any force that may try to stop us. I feel we are about to reap in the spiritual whirlwind.
Do you have a dream? Would you like to see it become reality? There has never been a better time. I know that I’ve had my doubts before. But with the rampant changes I see occurring in the world right now, I know that whatever your dream, aspiration, or desire, you will start to see it coming true, and sooner than you may think.
