UK -- HARP regional leaders meeting - Yoshiko Chellew
Following our first meeting in Livingstone House at the start of the HARP year in October, we met again as HARP regional leaders, but this time in the setting of a workshop in the Welsh valleys, to share our reports and ideas, spend time together as brothers and sisters, receive guidance and re-determine ourselves for the rest of the year. Our aim was for this workshop to be more of an organic experience - challenging ourselves in the great outdoors and building closer relationships with each other as part of one united team.
We were 19 people altogether, with almost every region present, and we were also joined by our HARP Parent: Andy Johnson, Youth Dept. Leader: Juan Pique, and Representative of Service For Peace and Global Peace Festival: Grace B.
On Friday we made the long journey to our little house in the hills, and spent the first evening sharing regional reports. It was inspiring to see so many regions were fulfilling the goals they had set at the start of the year, and also making the noticeable effort to incorporate outreach in their activities. Most regions had also started to run their own Youth Services, encouraging more second generation to take responsible roles, and providing a structure and content that could be better received by the younger audience.
Saturday was the experiential education -- we ventured out into the Brecon Beacons for a challenging but breath-taking hike in the wet Welsh weather and after returning home went to a cafe to have some informal sharing time in groups. In the evening, Natty and Nicole German gave an inspiring testimony about their experience as Youth Pastors and the developments taking place in the Welsh church. We ended the eventful day with an exciting game of 'Articulate'.
On Sunday, after enjoying pancakes for breakfast, Juan gave some internal guidance about the overall vision of HARP and the movement, and the positive attitude and mindset we should have to help us in our work. Grace then gave a talk about how HARP could work together more with SFP*, as service is one of the best ways that the youth can outreach and contribute to the Global Peace Festival. This was followed by some further suggestions of regional activities to initiate and support, such as regular lecture practice and fundraising for national HARP. The workshop closed with some individual time to pray and set new goals, personally and publicly.
It was a well-worth investment of time, energy and money to have the workshop in a new location, out in the countryside, and the experience has hopefully re-inspired everyone to do their best in their respective regions for the continuation of this year.
Thank you all for your support with HARP in your regions, spiritually and financially. I sincerely wish we can continue to work more closely together as 1st and 2nd Generation to create the cultural tidal wave that can sweep the nation, and eventually the world.
"Nothing is more important or precious than the relationship between parent and child."

Representative SungHwa leaders, parents and CARPies met with the HARP committee for the traditional "Kombi-Treffen" to reflect and set goals for the 8th year of Cheon Il Guk. The topic of this weekend (22.-24.02.) was "vertical tradition and leadership"
The official program started on Saturday morning, when little by little everybody had finally arrived. The morning was filled with reports from all the 10 regions in Germany and it was inspiriting and motivating to see, how everybody works hard to develop and fortify the HARP to become even more an instrument through which God can work.
As the topic of this weekend was "vertical tradition and leadership", Geros Kunkel and Daniel Christensen gave us lectures about how important the true heart and the vertical connection to God is to really work as a leader united with God.
After breaking-up, we played some games, so everyone had fun and felt connected to each other, for it's important for all of us to work together and support each other. The afternoon was filled with discussions in three groups: HARPies, CARPies and parents. Based on the lectures in the morning, it was mostly discussed about how to establish and inherit the vertical tradition. Everyone agreed that it's important to invite God in every activity and to make the deeper purpose of each activity in the schedule clear, as for example "rock out" should be opened with prayer and help to let the sorrow pass and feel free. Furthermore, practical vertical tradition like the HDH, Ahn Shi Il, bowing and so on should be explained more clearly as lots of blessed children don't know the background.
After having shared all the results of the discussions everyone used dinner-time to talk and to enjoy the gathering with their brothers and sisters. For the evening, the schedule ordered a "moving" evening, which not only contained moving our God-given bodies to music and open our hearts for God to enjoy himself through us, but also moving our hearts by sharing the feelings and thoughts we had in the course of this weekend.
The next morning program was organized by the HARP committee. Each one held a short lecture about subjects the committee felt important to be said, like how to handle with our position, outreach or a little testimony. By and by, everybody spread out and went home to work for and with God. I think all participants got motivated and felt power and inspiration for the upcoming year. I'm very glad and thankful the meeting was that good and I felt how God wants to work through all the leaders.
Finland -- Terhi Hassinen
The Harp-day on February was this time a bit different: it was held by one of our blessed families'. They own a kindergarten and are inviting us HARPies often to stay there. So in the afternoon on the 22nd of February we arrived and started off with some singing.
Uncle Stephen S. gave a lecture about whom we are (our movement). I think the main thing is what happens inside us concerning our relationship with God. There were discussions in groups and later on we celebrated the 18th birthday of one HARPie!
After dinner there was YUTE in teams!
The next day there was another lecture from Uncle Stephen. We had the possibility to ask questions and introduce to the others the outcomes from the discussions we had the day before. Talking about our identity as second generation, there came also many other topics out, which was really good. The rest of the WS was still enjoying each other's company and having fun.
It was good to get together again and the Harp-day gave us the strength, which we definitely need on every day.
Our next Harp-day will take place on the 15th of March, where we have decided to build a Cheon Il Guk -village in a scale model. Maybe building CIG in a mini size helps us to build it then in a bigger size. Also a letter for our sponsor child in Guinea Bissau will be done.
