Dear Brothers and Sisters,

You are cordially invited to join this Charity Fun Run organized by the Peace Striders Running Club International, supported by the Phil. Overseas Labor Office and the Department of Tourism of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. As you may know PSRCI is headed by Reuben Cruz, a veteran marathon runner is now attracting everyone to be a part of this great endeavor due to its positive influence. We are getting attention from the different organizations here in Tokyo for leading this huge project and being recognized by the Philippine Embassy as a vibrant and energetic young organization. Hope that this first project will be a great success!!

Philippine Independence Day Charity 5k Fun Run

In an unprecedented display of friendship and unity among Filipino runners in Japan, the officers and members of the Peace Striders Running Club International(PSRCI), in cooperation with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office(POLO) of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, will come together to lead the first-ever Philippine Independence Day 5K Fun Run to be held in the spacious, clean and secured venue of Imperial Palace Garden in Tokyo on Sunday, 06 June 2010.

Everyone aged 18 years old and above is invited to join this fun run. Part of the race-related net proceeds will be donated to construct a classroom and purchase of education materials to children in some impoverished areas in the Philippines.

PSRCI was founded by a group of Filipinos in Japan who share the aim of promoting peace and good health through recreational running. Its objectives include fostering friendship among existing running clubs both in Japan and abroad to build a better, stronger and healthier community without any border.

The PSRCI provides free training and lectures monthly. Membership is open to everyone who wishes to take up running as a hobby. Old and new friends alike from various countries who share the same passion for running are free to join the PSRCI and at the same time lend a helping hand to many children in need of educational opportunities.

A dramatic increase in its general membership last year provides strong indication that running for a healthier and happier life can also provide opportunities for people to lend a helping hand and become agents of change to those who have less and are under unfortunate circumstances.
