Region 11 (District 5 – Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana)
Region 11 hosted its first "Sister’s Retreat for 1st Generation Blessed Wives" on October 6 – 8th at Dauphin Island, Alabama. The theme for this historical event was, "Finding My Peace, Power and Beauty Within". Mrs. Charlotte Blount, Regional Chairwoman, WFWP, and Rev. Terry Yamane, Acting Regional Director, FFWPU, prepared a wonderful program with teaching sessions followed by practical exercises that helped to make the words real for each participant.
The workshop started with the question "Where are you right now?" The spiritual tone was set with the honesty and openness in which each sister answered this question. We realized that each sister’s life shared threads of experiences that we all held in common. Every session was a gift that we could take with us, beginning with Mrs. Charlotte Blount’s session on "Listening…to Truly Hear." We practiced listening to each other, and we all found that in our silence we could hear a voice that gave us a personal message for the sister sitting next to us. We practiced seeing from the heart through a guided visualization led by Mrs. Doris Crompton and found that we could perceive each other with God’s loving view point.
Mrs. Reiko Jenkins was one of the main presenters and she graciously shared a personal aspect of her life with us, her relationship with her husband. Her testimony was entitled, "The True Relationship between Husband and Wife". Throughout the weekend Mrs. Jenkins gave guidance, inspiration, humor and friendship to every sister there. Mrs. Weon Geun Kim was invited to share the precious experience she had with our True Parents on the First World Tour, when she was asked to be the caretaker of Shin Jun Nim. Her sincere testimony brought tears to our eyes and all the sisters felt blessed that she could join us for this memorable event.
Mrs. Terry Yamane and Mrs. Keiko Rotondo led us in meditation exercises learned from Hyun Jin Nim’s Chun Hwa Dong retreat as well as his guidance for our personal and family life. Mrs. Keiko Wilhelmer shared testimonies of working with the spirit world through the path of devotion, and she suggested ways we could each make an individual offering. Mrs. Angelica Cutts and Mrs.Katarina Zambon shared their hearts and experiences with the participants during question-and-answer sessions and reflection time. Although all the sister’s concerns could not be resolved, it served to heal, challenge and strengthen our commitment as women of Cheon Il Guk. The food was delicious. We danced and pampered each other with facials and foot baths. We walked in white sand and watched dolphins play in the Gulf. We slept with the sound of the surf and the full moon shining in our window. It was a heavenly weekend and a weekend that brought us closer to Heaven.
